The QUAD Vaccine Partnership saw India deliver the second batch of COVID vaccines to Thailand

Following the first delivery to Cambodia on April 12, India delivered the second consignment of COVID vaccinations to Thailand under the QUAD Vaccine Partnership on Thursday. This second shipment of vaccines was delivered to fulfill Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge to donate 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to nations in the Indo-Pacific region made at the QUAD Leaders’ Summit in Washington, DC, in September 2021, according to a press release from the Ministry of External Affairs.

Under the QUAD’s flagship Vaccine Partnership, the Ambassador of India, Suchitra Durai, the Ambassador of Australia, Allan McKinnon, the Ambassador of Japan, Nashida Kazuya, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States, James Wayman, jointly handed over a consignment of COVID-19 vaccines to the Kingdom of Thailand. Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, also received a shipment of 200,000 doses of Covovax vaccines developed in India. The QUAD nations have also given Thailand four and a half million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Thailand receives assistance from the QUAD nations in the fight against COVID-19.

In addition, India has provided Thailand with oxygen concentrators and critical drugs to aid in the improvement of its pandemic response capabilities. In addition to India, the Quad nations have provided logistical and financial assistance to ensure that vaccines are transformed into vaccinations, according to the announcement. Australia is aiding Thailand in providing safe and effective vaccines to its inhabitants, including improving data systems and launching communication efforts focused on migrant groups.

Japan has supplied oxygen concentrators for disease treatment as well as high-quality vaccine storage and delivery equipment under the ‘Last One Mile Support.’ Surveillance and contact tracing, case investigation, healthcare personnel education, and data management have all benefited from US assistance.

Following this, Thailand’s government expressed thanks to the QUAD countries for the immunizations it got and for their cooperative assistance to Thailand. The QUAD nations have assured Thailand that they will aid Thailand in whatever way feasible in the battle against the COIVD-19 epidemic.

Navi Mumbai Police Arrest African National With Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Cocaine In Ulwe

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.
