Following the incident in which Karnataka’s Pavagada Congress MLA Venkataramanappa smacked a teenager who came to him asking basic requirements for his village on Wednesday, BJP leader Amit Malviya attacked the Congress party on Thursday, saying the party had hit a new low.

On Thursday, Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s National Information and Technology department, turned to Twitter to recollect Congress representatives publicly slapping party members. “Venkataramanappa, a Congress MLA from Pavagada in Karnataka, hits a teenager who requested a road in his hamlet.”

“This is a new low after Siddaramaiah and DKS hitting Congress workers in public,” he tweeted. “Reminds us of Amethi, when Rahul urged a young man demanding a road to join the BJP,” he continued.

Venkataramanappa, a Pavagada Congress MLA, smacked a young guy who approached him on Wednesday, asking about basic requirements for his hamlet. Narasimha Murthy, a young man from Tumkur, Karnataka, was smacked by the MLA. The MLA threatened Murthy with imprisonment when the teenager asked for basic services for his village, such as drinking water.

Nagenhalli Villager Narasimha Murthy went to the local Tehsildar office to obtain basic supplies for his hamlet. After that, he met with local MLA Venkataramanappa and informed him of his proposal. In a video obtained by sources, Murthy is seen approaching the MLA and pleading with him to give their hamlet with basic amenities like drinking water and appropriate roads.

The local MLA, however, was enraged by the youth’s approach and smacked him outside the Pavagada taluk office. In response to Murthy’s requests, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi smacked him and threatened to arrest him. The teenager was also pushed away from Venkataramanappa by the MLA’s security. The footage of the event has subsequently gone viral, drawing the widespread condemnation of the Tumkur MLA.
