The BJP criticises the Congress for supporting rioters

Published

on

On Thursday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tarun Chugh stated that the party appreciated the Supreme Court’s decision to prolong the status quo order delaying the demolition effort in Jahangirpuri for another two weeks.

“We accept every judgement of the court,” Tarun Chugh told ANI on the Supreme Court’s ruling in connection with the NDMC’s anti-encroachment effort. “The court has clearly said that the demolition of unlawful structures cannot be prevented,” he continued, “which is similar to endorsing our perspective on the subject.”

“The court has stated unequivocally that encroachment may only be removed by bulldozers, and we agree,” Tarun Chugh told ANI in response to the Supreme Court’s judgement on the Jahangirpuri encroachment campaign.

On questioned about Congressman and Supreme Court lawyer Kabil Sibal’s comments on the encroachment effort, Chugh blasted Sibal for promoting illegal activities. He also chastised AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi and other Congress politicians for their anti-encroachment statements in Jahangirpuri.

“I’d want to inquire as to why such individuals support others who engage in unlawful activities. How do you feel about the rioters? Why do you feel sorry for these individuals?” ANI spoke with Chugh.

Later, Chugh stated that his party supported Prime Minister Modi’s motto of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwaas.” “Rioters can be from any organisation, religion, or sect,” he said, “and action will be done against them.” In response to Akhilesh Yadav’s suggestion that the BJP’s emblem is changed to “Leaders who are just concerned with vote-bank politics have been rejected by the people of Uttar Pradesh before,” Chugh stated. They will be rejected by the general public as well.”

Case of the destruction of Jahangirpuri

In a landmark judgement on Thursday, the Supreme Court prolonged the moratorium on the NDMC’s demolition campaign until additional decisions are issued. The two-judge bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao and B R Gavai made the verdict and also issued a notice to the federal government and others on the Jamiat Ulama-i-petition. Hind’s Senior counsel Dushyant Dave argued during the court in the Jahangirpuri demolition case that the case concerns far-reaching constitutional and national security issues. Dave responded to the court’s query on the national relevance of this case by saying that a specific segment of society has been attacked.

Amid the violent battles in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri neighbourhood, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) began removing illegal structures and encroachments in the region as part of its demolition programme, to which numerous individuals objected, claiming that it was being done to target a certain population.

The Supreme Court, which intervened in the case on Wednesday, imposed a status quo on the drive, thereby blocking the authorities from going any farther.
