MK Yogi the leader of the National Conference resigned

Published

on

MK Yogi, the president of the National Conference’s Minority (Migrant) Cell, resigned from the party on Friday, in a significant political shift in Jammu and Kashmir. MK Yogi, one of the few Kashmiri Pandit faces still with NC, remarked that the party leadership is pursuing a personal agenda and that the effort of the workers is not being recognized, adding that as a National Conference party worker, he is unable to serve his community.

“I am submitting my resignation from the role of president minority cell and also from the basic membership of the party,” MK Yogi told reporters before announcing his resignation. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership, accusing them of pursuing personal agendas rather than focusing on organizational issues. “Having served NC for the last 27 years, I painstakingly record my anger with its leadership for pursuing their agenda and failing to recognize the honest effort of ground workers,” he added, according to PTI.

Yogi went on to say that he had given his life for the National Conference, but that he had decided to resign owing to a lack of proper recognition for his efforts. Yogi, a Kashmiri Pandit, indicated that his ultimate objective in life was to help his community, but that he was unable to do so by continuing in the party.

MK Yogi’s departure from the party comes only days after Omar Abdullah slammed The Kashmir Files, a video that chronicles the massacre of Kashmiri pandits in the 1990s, followed by the migration of Kashmiri Hindus from the Valley.

The Kashmir Files is a ‘commercial movie,’ according to Omar Abdullah.

Omar Abdullah, the head of the National Conference, recently chastised the creators of the film The Kashmir Files, claiming that episodes during the migration of Kashmiri Hindus were misrepresented in the film. Facts, he maintained, had been tampered with. He also inquired as to why V P Singh, the country’s Prime Minister in the 1990s, is absent from the film. Omar Abdullah was in favor of the Kashmiri Hindus returning to the state, but he urged that a friendly climate be created for them to return to their homeland.

“I’d want to inquire as to whether this is a documentary or a commercial film. If it’s a film, it’ll be full of falsehoods based on those events. When the exodus occurred, Jagmohan was the prime minister and the BJP was in power. Why isn’t VP Singh included in the film? Manipulation of facts is unjustifiable “NC’s leader stated.
