Istanbul added significant momentum to Russia-Ukraine talks : Turkeys President

During a phone chat with their Ukrainian equivalent on Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that the recent peace negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian delegations gave the attempts to end the war a “significant momentum.” Erdogan’s speech came nearly three days after warring parties’ delegates met in Istanbul, Turkey, to try to resolve the crisis. “President Erdogan stated that the meeting in Istanbul between the Ukrainian and Russian negotiating delegations had added meaningful momentum to the process carried out for the termination of the war and the establishment of peace based on its outcomes,” according to a tweet from Erdogan’s press office translated by Russian news agency TASS.

In the meantime, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Turkey for hosting the peace negotiations earlier this week. During the telephonic call, the Turkish President also offered to organize a direct meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian leaders, expressing the hope that the meeting would bring an end to the continuing conflict between Moscow and Kyiv’s soldiers. “Noting the importance of the Istanbul talks yielding different indicators of de-escalation of tensions,” the Turkish presidential press office said, “President Erdogan renewed his request to bring together President Zelensky of Ukraine and President Putin of Russia, with Turkey hosting the meeting.”

The main points of the Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations

The sixth round of negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations took place in Istanbul on Tuesday, March 29. The discussion lasted roughly three hours, according to Mykhaylo Podolyak, assistant to the head of the Ukraine President’s Office. Following the conference, Vladimir Medinsky, the head of the Russian delegation, said that Russia had received formal proposals from Ukraine on a treaty and that Moscow had pledged to reduce strikes on the war-torn nation. Moscow had stated that the negotiations had been fruitful earlier in the day on Tuesday. The Kremlin, on the other hand, did not agree. The fact that Ukraine made written ideas was a “good aspect,” according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, but he added that he saw no breakthrough.

The war between Russia and Ukraine

Nearly two days after Putin issued a proclamation recognizing the independence of separatist areas Donetsk and Luhansk, Russia launched a full-fledged war against Ukraine. Despite the West’s repeated warnings and suspicions about Putin’s ill-intentioned invasion of Ukraine, he took action. Russian soldiers launched a military campaign against Ukraine on February 24. It has been shelling various cities in Ukraine since then, killing tens of thousands of civilians. On Friday, Zelenskyy urged his Russian counterpart to cease the battle immediately, but he also stated that Russian soldiers would not be allowed to occupy any Ukrainian land.

The Maharashtra Government Declares That Light Motor Vehicles Entering Mumbai Will Not Be Required To Pay Tolls

Published

The Maharashtra government announced a complete toll-free policy for light motor vehicles at all five entry ports into Mumbai on Monday, October 14, with effect from midnight. At the State Cabinet meeting, the exemption—which covers small cars, school buses, and State Transport (ST) buses—was decided. The goal of this important action is to lessen the load on commuters and drivers entering the city.

Vashi on the Sion-Panvel Highway, Mulund on the Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg and Eastern Express Highway, Airoli Bridge on the Airoli-Mulund Road, and Dahisar on the Western Express Highway are the toll plazas where the waiver would be implemented.

Members of Navi Mumbai’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) greeted the announcement by giving out sweets to drivers at the Vashi toll plaza. The festivities emphasized the party’s longstanding call for openness in toll collecting and the elimination of tolls after toll money was used to finance road repairs.

MNS founding chairperson Raj Thackeray congratulated the people of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and MNS supporters on X (previously Twitter), expressing his happiness at the decision. “Congratulations to all the residents of the MMR area, and a special congratulations to my Maharashtra Sainiks,” he said. They put up a strong fight to ensure that toll transactions are transparent and that if the money collected is used to fund road construction,

Thackeray went on to address the criticism the party received for its tough stance on toll booths, pointing out that extreme measures were occasionally required to draw attention to pressing problems. “In any case, our fight paid off and Mumbaikars were at least free of tolls. We are happy to report that our agitation was successful. However, he continued, “they should reassure the public that this is not a decision made solely for the election.”
