50% water cuts will be imposed on Thane till February 24

Some areas of Thane will experience water interruptions for 12 to 24 hours and will only receive a 50% supply until February 24 as repair work on water leaks is being started.

“From February 21 to 24, work is being done to fix a key conduit that supplies water to six separate locations that is leaking. The city will only receive 50% of the water from TMC’s plan. In order to provide water throughout the city, zoning has been planned. As a result, throughout these four days, the water supply will be interrupted for at least 12 to 24 hours in each zone, according to a TMC water department officer.

During these four days, in addition to this significant repair, vacuum air valves will be installed on the main water channel at Saket Bridge, the recently completed 1,168 mm pipeline at Indira nagar will be connected to Teen Hath Naka, and daily supply maintenance will also be carried out.

The water supply will probably have low pressure for a day or two after the cut-off. Thus, we have urged the populace to maintain a sufficient supply of water and work with the Municipal Corporation, the official stated.

The locals, meanwhile, have been miffed by the midsummer water supply shutdown.

“The TMC ought to have scheduled this repair work beforehand and completed it before the start of summer. There won’t be enough water available when we need it more for drinking and other uses. According to Mayur Parsekar, a resident of Balkum, Thane, the civic body should carry out such projects while also taking the inhabitants’ convenience into consideration.

Water service was cut off in the following locations on Tuesday from 9 am to 9 pm: Ghodbunder Road, Balkum, Bramhand, Dhokali, Kolshet, Manpada, Azad Nagar, Patlipada, Waghbil, Vijay Nagri, Kasarvadvali, and Ovala Bhayanderpada.

Also, the water supply to various areas of Mumbra as well as Gandhinagar, Surkar Pada, Unnati, Siddanchal, Prison, Ritu Park, Rustamji, Kalwa, Kharegaon, Atakoneshwar Nagar, Raghukul, and Surkar Pada was cut off from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.

The water supply will be cut off in the morning hours on Wednesday in Siddheshwar, Samtanagar, Dosti, Akriti, Johnson, and Eternity, and in the evening hours in Gandhinagar, Surkar Pada, Unnati, Siddanchal, Jail, Saket, Ritu Park, Rustamji, Kalwa, Kharegaon, Atakoneshwar Nagar, Raghukul, and some areas of Mumbra.

Water service will be cut off on Friday mornings in the morning hours in the regions of Siddheshwar, Samtanagar, Dosti, Akriti, Johnson, and Eternity, and evening hours in the areas of Ghodbunder Road, Majiwada, Balkum, Bramhand, Dhokali, Kolshet, Manpada, Azad Nagar, Patlipada, Waghbeel, Vijay Nagri,

Navi Mumbai Police Arrest African National With Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Cocaine In Ulwe

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.
