Actress Saayoni Ghosh has been appointed the president of the All India Trinamool Youth Congress on Saturday. Incidentally, she is the same actress who had come under the scanner for her Hinduphobic social media posts.

“This is the first time in my career that I was offered but refused two films without even reading the scripts. Since acting is in my blood, I will act if I am given an offer that I can’t refuse. Currently, I will give my 120% to politics and Mamata Banerjee,” the actress said following her appointment.

Saayoni Ghosh contested the 2021 Assembly Elections from the Asansol South constituency where she lost to BJP’s Agnimitra Paul by a margin of just under 4,500 votes. Saayoni Ghosh had subsequently issued an apology claiming that her account had been hacked. Following the announcement of her candidature from Asansol South, people had outraged against the decision and accused the Trinamool Congress of not caring for Hindu sentiments.

NMMC Hosts Self-Poetry Recitation Competition To Celebrate Marathi Language Conservation Fortnight.

The Competition

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) held a self-poetry reciting competition to support officials’ and staff members’ poetic writing abilities. The occasion was a component of the two-week-long Marathi Language Conservation campaign.

Thirty-one poets took part in this event. From January 14 to January 28, the city government has organized a number of events to promote the Marathi language.

Ashok Gupte, a well-known poet and the grandson of the famed poet Bee, judged the self-poetry reciting competition. Gupte urged the poets to continue their commitment to producing high-caliber poetry. Despite their hectic work schedules, he commended the cops and staff for fostering their literary abilities.

The poet was especially grateful of the female staff members who had worked hard and passionately to develop their literary skills while juggling work and domestic duties. Gupte stressed the significance of delivery and presentation. He emphasized that there should be a natural rhythm and flow even in free verse poetry. According to an official, he encouraged contestants to keep competing, read quality poetry, and keep composing. During the occasion, Gupte also read a few of his own outstanding poetry.

The NMMC headquarters will host a lecture on “Mayboli Abhijat Marathi” by famous poet and writer Dr. Mahesh Keluskar. Navi Mumbai literature lovers are welcome to come and take part in this thought-provoking discussion.

An NGO Protests CIDCO’s Alleged Unlawful Parking Use Of The Belapur Plot

NGO Protests Against CIDCO’s Alleged Illegal Use Of Belapur Plot For Parking.

The Protest

A citizen rights group, Sajag Nagarik Manch, has raised objections against CIDCO for allegedly using a plot of land in Belapur, Navi Mumbai, without permission for parking its official vehicles. The forum has warned CIDCO to vacate the land, failing which they will stage an “external locking protest.”

The disputed land is located near CIDCO headquarters and lies beneath a High Tension Line (HTL). Through the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the forum found that CIDCO has no legal approval, No Objection Certificate (NOC), or permission from local authorities to use the land for parking.

“For the last nine months, we have been asking CIDCO to provide documents allowing them to use the land, but they have none,” said Sudhir Dani, founder of Sajag Nagarik Manch. He added that using the land for parking violates regulations set by the Electricity Regulatory Commission.

In a letter to CIDCO’s Managing Director, the forum demanded that CIDCO remove security guards, makeshift sheds, and CCTV cameras from the land. They also insisted that CIDCO stop restricting entry to other vehicles.

“If CIDCO does not act within seven days, we will lock the premises ourselves,” said Dani. The forum has also warned that CIDCO will be responsible for any legal or law-and-order issues arising from the protest.

CIDCO officials have not commented on the matter.
