Yogi government to bear cost of COVID patients treatment in private hospitals under Ayushman Bharat

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that those coronavirus positive patients who could not avail bed in government hospitals can be admitted to private hospitals.

UP chief minister’s office informed that both the government and private hospitals are instructed not to say no to admit COVID-19 coronavirus positive patients. If there is unavailability of beds in the government hospital, the patient could be referred to a private hospital.

The CMO further informed that if the patient unable able to afford the treatment in a private hospital, the same shall be borne by the state government under Ayushman Bharat Yojana. “No patient should be deprived of the treatment,” Yogi Adityanath said.

“There is no shortage of oxygen in any COVID hospital, be it private or government. The problem is black marketing and hoarding, which will be tackled with a heavy hand. We will conduct an oxygen audit in collaboration with IIT Kanpur, IIM Lucknow, and IIT BHU for proper monitoring of oxygen. The system of live tracking of oxygen demand, supply, and distribution will be implemented.” said CM.

As of now, around 11 lakh people have tested positive for COVID-19 in UP, out of which 2.97 lakh are current active cases. Around 11,000 people have lost their lives in the coronavirus pandemic.

Often dubbed Navi Mumbai’s “Queen’s Necklace,” Palm Beach Road attracts hundreds of local residents every morning and evening for walks. However, from the Vashi Railway Flyover down to Akshar Chowk and the Kopri Flyover near Seawoods, large construction dumpers have converted pedestrian pathways and service lanes into makeshift parking lots.

Locals allege that trucks tied to nearby real estate developments are blocking walkways and creating dangerous visual blind spots, forcing pedestrians onto high-speed main carriageways. Citizen groups have questioned the lack of enforcement, asking whether municipal “No Parking” signs are merely cosmetic. Local representatives have demanded immediate joint action by civic authorities and the traffic police before a fatal collision occurs.

Responding to growing public anger, Prashant Nerker, Assistant Commissioner of NMMC’s Belapur Ward, assured residents that civic officials will inspect the Akshar Chowk stretch alongside traffic engineers and initiate prompt legal action against illegally parked heavy vehicles.
