Vadodara to Get Direct Flight to Navi Mumbai from December 30
Air connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra is set to improve with the launch of a direct flight service between Vadodara and Navi Mumbai, starting December 30. The route will be operated by IndiGo Airlines, officials confirmed.
The new service will operate five days a week, excluding Mondays and Thursdays, offering passengers a convenient afternoon travel option. As per the schedule, the flight will depart Navi Mumbai at around 3 pm and arrive in Vadodara at approximately 4.05 pm. The return flight will leave Vadodara at about 4.40 pm, reaching Navi Mumbai by 5.45 pm.
Airport authorities said the introduction of this route is aimed at strengthening regional and business connectivity, particularly for travellers commuting to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The direct service is also expected to benefit professionals, traders, and passengers seeking quicker access to Navi Mumbai and its surrounding commercial hubs.
Vadodara Airport currently connects the city with several major domestic destinations, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Goa and Chennai, under the ongoing winter schedule. The addition of Navi Mumbai to this network reflects growing passenger demand and the expanding role of the newly operational Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Officials expressed confidence that the new flight will receive a positive response and help reduce travel time for passengers who previously relied on indirect routes or road travel. The service is expected to further boost economic and commercial ties between Gujarat and Maharashtra while offering greater flexibility to air travellers.

Potholes and damaged roads to be fixed on key routes used for Ganesh idol processions and immersions.
The Repairs
With Ganeshotsav just around the corner, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has stepped up efforts to make city roads safer and smoother for residents and devotees.
NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde has directed officials to inspect damaged roads and take up urgent repairs, with priority being given to routes that will witness the movement of large Ganesh idols and immersion processions. Engineering teams are inspecting roads for potholes, uneven surfaces, damaged manholes and problems with storm-water drains. Since the monsoon is still active, temporary repairs are being carried out using materials such as cold mix and mastic geopolymer. To improve monitoring, officials are also geo-tagging potholes so that their locations can be tracked and repairs can be completed without missing important stretches. The civic body is also working on improving street lighting, cleanliness and facilities at immersion points to make the festival more convenient for citizens.
For many residents, smooth roads are more than just a civic issue during Ganeshotsav they are essential for ensuring that processions can move safely and families can participate in the celebrations without worrying about potholes and damaged stretches. NMMC has also appealed to citizens to cooperate with the civic authorities and celebrate the festival responsibly, while keeping the city clean and environmentally friendly.
