The police forces compassionate image was highlighted in Pandemic : Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated a Rashtriya Raksha University building in Dehgam, Gandhinagar, to the country on Saturday. The occasion was attended by Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, Governor Acharya Devvrat, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

When speaking at the university’s first convocation, Modi noted that many people associate police officers in uniform with dread, whereas those in the military are seen as protectors. “During Covid-19, when police officers were seen delivering food and medicine to the populace, this image changed. During the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, several uniformed police officers assisted the destitute with food and medicine. The force’s compassionate side was visible to the public.”

He went on to say that technology has now evolved into a weapon in the security apparatus. “Mere physical training is no longer enough to join the security services; now, even if they are not physically fit, differently-abled persons can contribute to the security sector,” he continued.

During Modi’s tenure as chief minister, Gujarat was the first state in the country to computerize police stations, according to Shah. “Software was used to train the police force, as well as connecting jails and forensic science labs,” he continued.

Modi had earlier in the day participated in a roadshow in Gandhinagar’s Chiloda-Dehgam area. With Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, he rode in an open jeep.

Modi started his campaign in his home state with a big roadshow in Ahmedabad on Friday, less than 24 hours after his party gained a record mandate in Uttar Pradesh and kept power in three other states.

Modi had left the Raj Bhavan in a car before the tour and transferred to an open jeep when he arrived in Dehgam. These roadshows are being interpreted as Modi kicking off his party’s campaign for the Gujarat Assembly election, which is set for December.

He will launch the Khel Mahakumbh, a sporting event, in the evening.
