As the 2nd phase of the Budget Session begins the Rajya Sabha get extra business hours

Published

on

The second phase of the Budget Session, which begins on Monday, March 14, is slated to resume routine sittings in Parliament. Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will convene at 11 a.m. on Monday due to a decrease in Covid-19 instances. The Rajya Sabha will have 19 hours of extra business time during the second half of the Budget Session due to the adjustment in session dates. During the scheduled 19 sittings, the House will meet from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., compared to 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the first half of this session.

The Rajya Sabha will have 64 hours 30 minutes for transacting the government’s legislative work and taking up topics of public significance during the second half of the session, thanks to the one-hour increase in sitting time every sitting.

Private Member’s business will be heard in the House for four days. Question Hour will remain one hour, while Zero Hour, which was previously limited to half an hour per sitting, will now be extended to one hour per sitting.

The first portion of this Budget session, which lasted ten sittings, ended on February 11, 2022.

The productivity of the House of Representatives was 101.40 percent. Following the President’s address to members of both Houses and the presentation of the Union Budget for 2022-23 on the first two days of the session, Rajya Sabha held eight complete days of sittings without interruptions or forced adjournments, the first time in over three years.

The last time this happened was during the first 13 sittings of the 2019 Monsoon session. Given the time available and priorities, the government did not propose any legislative activity during the first part of this session, such as debates on the Motion of Thanks to the President and the Union Budget.

During the opening half of this session, Chairman Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu asked members to help the House run smoothly so that it might improve on the 94% productivity of last year’s Budget session.

After a one-month break, the Budget Session will resume.

The Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committees (DRSCs) assessed the requests for grants of various ministries and departments during the 30-day hiatus following the first half of the Budget Session. On Monday, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu is expected to deliver a report of the work done during the hiatus of Rajya Sabha’s eight discs.

SVEEP initiative encourages Navi Mumbaikars to vote in the Lok Sabha elections.

The Campaign

In Navi Mumbai, there is an intense campaign to raise voter awareness ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections. Many tactics are being used to guarantee broad involvement in the democratic process, led by the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral participation) program.

The effort aims to provide every person with the information and drive necessary to properly exercise their right to vote. Various parts of society are receiving information about the value of voting through a variety of channels and initiatives.

At the Sampalam Sakhi Vikas Sanstha office in Koparkhairane, 150 women from the Airoli Vidhan Sabha Constituency received voting rights education. This was one noteworthy initiative. Following the direction of Mr. Suchita Bhikane, the Election Adjudicating Officer, and Mr. Abhilasha Mhatre and Mr. Vibha Singh, the SVEEP Nodal Officers, these ladies pledged to vote and urged others to follow as well.

In the same way, voting was encouraged above all else during the yearly reunion of Airoli’s DAV School in Vashi. By raising their fingers in agreement, educators, parents, and students all declared their commitment to voting.

Beyond conventional settings, the campaign approaches Patni Road’s West Side and Chroma, two business zones. This serves as a reminder to both staff members and consumers of the importance of voting in determining the direction the country will go.

Voter education and encouragement campaigns are carried out even at the Airoli central post office and during festivities in Airoli gaon. In order to demonstrate the combined duty of all staff members to raise voter awareness, Digha Division Office Commissioner and Divisional Officer Dr. Kailas Gaikwad set an example by pledging to vote with his team.

The Sanpada Drain Protection Net Installation Is Requested By MNS

MNS requests protection nets be installed along drains in Sanpada.

The Net

MNS Division President Yogesh Shete has made a strong case to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) about the critical need to fix the drainage system’s declining state in Sanpada.

In a letter addressed to Sanjay Desai, City Engineer of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Yogesh Shete drew attention to the concerning situation along the major drain that runs from Sanpada Sector 6 Godavari Park Society to Juinagar Railway Station. Shete noticed that even though security nets were installed last year, they have been broken and even taken away.

Numerous problems are afflicting the area as a result of these missing or damaged nets. Because there is no protection, garbage and debris have accumulated along the drain, creating unhygienic conditions and offensive odors. To make matters worse, the region has developed into a hub for nighttime activities, and drunks frequently visit the area.

Because of the unsanitary conditions, locals who go through this region are exposed to unpleasant odors and health risks. In addition, there is an immediate risk due to the soil erosion from the green belt next to the drain, particularly since the monsoon season has begun.

Yogesh Shete asked the relevant authorities to take prompt action, expressing worry about the possible escalation of these issues. He stressed that in order to stop more damage and reduce hazards in the future, it is imperative that the region be thoroughly inspected and that new safety nets be installed as soon as possible.
