Massive Fire Erupts in Airoli Scrap Warehouse, No Casualties Reported
There are no reported casualties after a massive fire breaks out at an Airoli scrap warehouse.
The Fire
A massive fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at a scrap warehouse in the Digha area of Airoli, Navi Mumbai, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and triggering panic among nearby residents. The blaze was reported around 2:30 PM, prompting an immediate response from the Navi Mumbai Fire Brigade.
According to fire officer Santosh Patil, multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and firefighters battled the flames for nearly an hour before bringing the situation under control by 3:30 PM. Cooling operations were carried out to prevent the fire from reigniting. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have originated from flammable materials stored within the scrap premises, though the exact cause is yet to be determined. Dense smoke affected visibility in the surrounding areas, but the quick response of the fire department prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.
Authorities have cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation to assess the extent of damage and determine the cause of the fire. Local residents have praised the timely efforts of the fire brigade, crediting them for averting a potential disaster.
The incident once again highlights the need for strict fire safety measures in industrial and storage zones across Navi Mumbai. Officials have urged warehouse owners to comply with fire safety regulations to avoid such mishaps in the future.

Morbe Dam Water Storage Reaches 75.66%, Easing Supply Concerns
Steady monsoon downpours boost primary water reservoir for Navi Mumbai residents.
The Storage
In a major relief for Navi Mumbai residents, water levels at the Morbe Dam the primary drinking water source for the region have reached 75.66% of its total capacity, following consistent monsoon showers across its catchment area in Khalapur.
Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) officials confirmed that the rising water levels significantly reduce concerns over potential water cuts or supply disruptions in the coming months. The steady inflow has ensured a secure drinking water buffer for over 15 lakh residents across the city.
While the current stock is sufficient to meet daily demand well into early next year, civic engineers noted that sustained heavy downpours are still required for the reservoir to hit 100% capacity and overflow. NMMC continues to monitor catchment rainfall closely to optimize seasonal storage reserves.
