Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, urged the people of Tripura on Tuesday to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to establish a government for a second term, promising to make the north-eastern state the best in the country.

Amit Shah was speaking at a public meeting in Agartala’s Swami Vivekananda Maidan to mark the end of the BJP-led Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) government’s four-year term.

“I guarantee you that we have successfully controlled Tripura during the last four years.” Give us another chance after our five-year term ends next year, and we will make Tripura the most populous state in the country, ” he said.

Shah’s visit to Tripura, which comes after the assembly elections in Manipur, is seen as significant because the state will hold elections in 2023.

“I’ll be back soon.” Before arriving, we will complete every poll promise, and we will ask for your support once more. Only Modiji, Biplabji, and Jishnuji can bring development to Tripura,” Shah added, alluding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarman.

He further claimed that the “double-engine government” has resulted in a 30 percent reduction in various crimes such as murder, rape, and kidnapping in Tripura, as well as a tenfold increase in the state’s conviction rate. He also mentioned that the state has provided health insurance, double income for farmers, and housing help, among other things.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, he also declared that 33 percent of seats in government posts will be reserved for women and that he will start a women empowerment initiative at Anandanagar on the outskirts of Agartala in the evening.

Amit Shah will also set the cornerstone for the Anandanagar campus of the National Forensic Sciences University.

Shah launched a harsh attack on the Left Front, claiming that Communist governments are characterized by political assassinations and brutality. He also stated that the BJP government had brought peace and development to the Northeast, which had previously been plagued by terrorism, violence, infiltration, and corruption under the Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPI(M), and the Congress governments.

On arriving at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Shah performed puja at Tripureswari temple in Gomati district, one of the world’s 51 Shaktipeethas, and unveiled the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) initiative.
