Conman steals a diamond-studded gold ring from a fitness instructor

A conman utilized the fallen currency scam to distract his focus and fled with his luggage stowed in his car’s back seat, according to a 39-year-old fitness coach at D.Y.Patil Sports Club living in Kopar Khairane. A diamond-studded gold ring and an expensive speaker, both valued at Rs 66,000, were found in the luggage. The incident happened on April 13 morning on the street opposite Prashant Jewellers in Sector 9, Vashi, while fitness coach Abhay Waghmare (39), was sitting in his car and waiting for a buddy, according to the FIR.

Waghmare received a call from a buddy about 11.40 a.m., while he was heading home from the sports club in Nerul, telling him to meet near Prashant Jewellers in sector 9, Vashi. Waghmare’s diamond-studded gold ring and BOSE speaker were kept in a bag on the back seat of the automobile. Waghmare arrived at the meeting location in ten minutes and was sitting in his car, talking on his phone, when a stranger banged on the driver’s side window glass and informed him that money had dropped outside his car. Waghmare observed a few Rs 10 notes fall near his car when he opened it and came out to examine.

When the visitor inquired about the amount, Waghmare questioned whether the money belonged to him. However, the stranger walked away without saying anything. Waghmare did not take the money and sat in the car, only to discover that his luggage had been taken from the back seat. Wagmare realised the stranger had deceived him by employing the dropped money method, which he remembered from one of his friends. Waghmare filed a theft complaint at the Vashi police station on April 22 due to his hectic work schedule. “It appears that the gang utilising the fallen money trick has been active again after two years,” said Ramesh Chavan, senior inspector of Vashi.

While one gang member uses a falling money trick to divert the attention of the parked car’s driver, another gang member standing on the opposite side of the car flicks the valuables placed in the car’s back seat as soon as the driver unlocks the car to exit. We’re looking for CCTV video from the neighbourhood to track down the burglar.”
