In order to meet his aggressive deadline of August for the e-office system launch, Dr. Kailas Shinde, the Commissioner of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), has set high standards. Dr. Shinde stressed the urgency of moving quickly to digitize all 82 municipal departments’ activities during a recent review meeting that was centered on digital transformation.

The chiefs of the relevant departments were present at the meeting, along with Mr. Sunil Pawar, Additional Commissioner, Mr. Shirish Aardwad, Deputy Commissioner of the Administration Department, and Mr. Sharad Pawar.

In order to ensure a smooth integration into the e-office system, Dr. Shinde ordered the prompt gathering of e-data from staff members within a week and stipulated that government email addresses be provided. In order to facilitate the digital shift, he directed the technical department to set up a special computer room with high-capacity scanning equipment. Dr. Shinde underlined the advantages of the e-office system, stressing improved efficiency, speed, and openness in municipal operations. He emphasized that the technology would expedite procedures, guaranteeing citizens would receive high-quality services on time.

Dr. Shinde also went over plans to increase the availability of online public services, and he recommended that all digital copies of municipal certificates and approvals be made available. He emphasized how crucial it is to lessen the number of times that residents must attend municipal offices in order to save time and effort. Furthermore, Dr. Shinde stressed the need of accurately basing future tax assessments on Lidar survey data and directed the quick implementation of a payment mechanism for property tax payments.

By tracking file statuses online, the e-office system is anticipated to minimize paperwork, expedite file handling, and improve accountability. In order to streamline and modernize municipal operations, Dr. Shinde promised to accelerate the adoption of e-offices, reaffirming his commitment to an administration focused on the needs of the people.

Navi Mumbai Police Arrest African National With Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Cocaine In Ulwe

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.
