All agencies, including civic authorities, were given a deadline of May 25 to finish all current work on roads, gutters, and walkways, according to NMMC Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar. The city authority will not let any new work beyond May 25 unless there is an emergency. For the next monsoon season, NMMC has launched a 24-hour Disaster Control Room hotline. The commissioner stated that all assistant commissioners of wards and executive engineers have been given instructions to visit the locations where work is being done and expedite any outstanding work. Over 70% of the pre-monsoon work, according to the commissioner, has been finished. He visits nodes to monitor work progress during review sessions for monsoon preparedness.

In order to avoid giving an extension, Narvekar requested that the work already in progress be finished as soon as possible. Civic authorities have been instructed to clear the pathways and roadways of the sludge removed from gutters and drains while avoiding causing any disturbance to the locals. Narvekar assigned authorities the duty of maintaining the condition of the roads, pathways, and drains under their control. The officials have been instructed to make sure that sludge cleanup work is done quickly when it dries in a few days. The ward officials have been instructed to conduct an emergency inspection of landslide-prone regions, construction sites, and hazardous structures and to take action to ensure the safety of the locals.

Authorities have been ordered to erect makeshift shelters. Civic authorities have been told to trim tree branches close to lamps, check electricity poles and risky trees right away and make sure the lighting and traffic signal system are in excellent working order throughout the rainy season. Residents complain that the pre-monsoon work is being done too quickly and of poor quality.
