After labelling Kashmir Files Kejriwal seeks to prove that he cares about Kashmiri Pandits

Published

Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister, rattled nerves last week when he referred to ‘The Kashmir Files’ as a jhoothi film on the ground of the Delhi parliament. Even though the conversation was focused on Manish Sisodia’s presentation of the Delhi budget, Arvind Kejriwal grabbed the opportunity to criticize the movie.

His criticism of the video elicited significant reactions among Kashmiri Hindus who had been uprooted as a result of the valley’s genocide. Kejriwal and his party have been chastised for mocking Kashmiri Hindus’ suffering during the slaughter and subsequent migration from the valley.

It now appears that the Delhi CM has recognized the foolishness of his conduct and is attempting to repair the damage. Arvind Kejriwal told Times Now’s Navika Kumar that they were laughing at the BJP’s promotion of the film rather than the Kashmiri Pandits’ migration.

Even though CM Kejriwal explicitly branded the entire video a jhoothi film on the floor of the Delhi assembly, he stated that he was simply amused by the BJP’s support for it. Kejriwal went on to assert that the BJP made millions of dollars from the video, even though neither the BJP nor any of its officials were engaged in its production.

Arvind Kejriwal also avoided a question on why he created many films tax-free in Delhi, including Swara Bhasker’s Nil Battey Sannata, Taapsee Pannu’s Saand Ki Aankh, and Deepika Padukone’s ’83, but not a film about Kashmiri Hindu holocaust.

During the interview, Navika Kumar attempted to credit Kejriwal for the regular employment that a few Kashmiri Pandits have been able to obtain in Delhi in recent years, even though this was done following a High Court decision.

Meanwhile, Punjab Police have filed an FIR against Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, a BJP official, for condemning Arvind Kejriwal’s mockery of the Kashmir Files video.
