A Man gives his wife triple talaq over dowry and stabs her when she protests

Cops in Uttar Pradesh are hunting for a man called Abid, who allegedly stabbed his wife Asma after she objected to Abid’s triple Talaq. According to reports, Abid and his family were pressuring Asma for dowry, and when she couldn’t meet their demands, he handed her triple Talaq. The event occurred on Saturday night in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh’s Purwa Ilahi Baksh neighbourhood.

According to the storey, Abid and his wife Asma had a falling out over the former’s growing desire for money from Asma’s relatives. The dispute turned heated, and Abid yelled at Talaq three times in a fit of passion, announcing the marriage to be finished. When Asma objected, Abid repeatedly stabbed her.

After Asma started screaming in pain, her neighbours learned of the incident and told her parents. Asma’s parents went to her in-laws’ home and transported her to the district hospital, where she is receiving treatment. Asma is no longer in danger, according to the reports.

Firoz Chand, of Shyamnagar in the Lisadi Gate police station area, told officers that his sister married Abid, of Purva Elahi Baksh in the Brahmapuri police station area, roughly 13 years ago. There are three sons between the two of them. Firoz claims that Abid is an alcoholic police informant.

For the past three days, Abid and his relatives have been demanding ten lakh rupees from Asma and her family. Even though Asma had brought the money from her maternal family to give to her in-laws, they persisted to demand more money.

The two got into a disagreement about it on Saturday night, and Abid gave Asma triple Talaq and stabbed her when she objected.

In response to the event, Dinesh Chandra Sharma, the in-charge of the police station, said that the case is being investigated and that efforts are being made to apprehend Abid.

In 2019, India enacted the landmark Triple Talaq bill, which declared instant Triple Talaq to be void and illegal, as well as a criminal offence.
