Unapproved Booster Pumps Were Seized By CIDCO

Published

on

In Kharghar, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has stepped up its efforts to remove booster pumps that have been put illegally in housing societies. The CIDCO water supply department recently carried out a campaign that resulted in the seizure of 35 illegal booster pumps from sectors 34 and 35 in the previous week. Housing societies in other nodes, such as Taloja, Kamothe, Kalamboli, Panvel, Karanjade, Ulwe, and Dronagiri, have received a strong warning from CIDCO to remove any illegally built booster pumps or risk legal action.

The water supply department conducted an examination after receiving complaints regarding low-pressure water delivery in specific sectors, even though Kharghar has regular water supply and CIDCO canceled the 20% water reduction from August 1. CIDCO inspectors found that certain societies had installed unapproved booster pumps to raise water pressure during this examination. These pumps were consequently seized, and CIDCO has reaffirmed that any society discovered to be interfering with the water delivery system will face legal repercussions.

A Keystone Society officer voiced his displeasure with the continuous problems with water pressure in sectors 34 and 35. He asserted that the issue is still unsolved in spite of several letters and meetings with CIDCO representatives. Gurkhe also claimed that although CIDCO took booster pumps out of several societies, it failed to notice a specific high-rise building where a 10-hp motor is being used to steal water unlawfully. This suggests that local CIDCO authorities may be ignoring the situation.

Priya Ratambe, the Public Liaison Officer for CIDCO, verified the measures implemented against housing societies located in Kharghar sectors 34 and 35. She also underlined that the societies would be in legal hot water if the illegal pumps are put back in. Ratambe promised that such initiatives to guarantee adherence to water supply laws will be carried out in other CIDCO nodes.

CIDCO’s unwavering position against unapproved booster pumps emphasizes how crucial it is to distribute water fairly and how societies must follow the law in order to prevent upsetting the water supply system.
