During a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna informed that the European Union had received Ukraine’s membership questionnaire and that the bloc would expedite Ukraine’s official membership in the Union.

Olga Stefanishyna further stated that official preliminary work for the former Soviet nation’s inclusion in the organization has been completed, and Kyiv would be granted official candidate status in June.

By June, Ukraine will be a member of the European Union.

It comes as Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed an application for European Union membership on the fifth day of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, claiming that it was both reasonable and immediate for Ukrainians, even if it “may appear untimely” to others.

Kyiv’s candidacy for membership in the European Union, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, is “a step to assist struggling Ukraine in recovering” from Russia’s damage. She also described it as a significant tool to destabilize aggressor Russia, which is attempting to reverse Ukraine’s democratic path.’

She had previously remarked that Ukraine is fighting for its survival as a democratic and free country. Stefanishyna had stated that the war in Ukraine, which is located in the heart of Europe, would create seismic shifts that would be felt all around the globe. Thousands of civilians have died, hundreds of children have been slain, entire cities have been destroyed, and millions of people have been forced to flee their homes, according to her. “The world has been appalled by Russia’s savage acts,” she asserted.

In the fight, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration loses his husband.

Stefanishyna has been devastated by the conflict not just as a deputy prime minister who is witnessing her country being torn apart in front of her eyes, but also personally, as her husband was killed in the Russian war.

Stefanishyna claims her husband was murdered in the Chernihiv region of Ukraine. Stefanishyna announced the awful news on Facebook on March 31. Her husband, Bohdan Stefanishyna, was slain, according to her Facebook post, while participating in a Territorial Defense Forces mission to rescue people near Chernihiv. “Bogdan, my dear husband, was killed by a Russian shell near Chernihiv on March 30 while attempting to save civilians. I’ll be with our kids and won’t be able to contact you. I’m in excruciating pain. War is the b**** (sic) “, she said herself.
