TMC MLAs Threat To Voters: BJP Leaders Slam TMC

Published

on

Naren Chakraborty, the MLA of the Pandabeshwar Constituency in the Hooghly District, made a stunning comment in which he openly threatened state voters. “Hardcore BJP workers should be intimidated and should be prohibited from voting in the polls,” the Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA stated, speaking in Bengali. Following the disturbing comments, several BJP leaders have spoken out against the MLA.

BJP officials accused Mamata Banerjee’s party of encouraging violence in the state, and they attacked MLA Naren Chakraborty and his party. In an exclusive interview, BJP MP Dilip Ghosh claimed that the TMC was resorting to such tactics to stay in power. Ghosh slammed the MLA for his threat speech, claiming that such incidents were to blame for the post-election violence in West Bengal. “This isn’t the first time TMC leaders have used threats to intimidate voters. The post-election violence in West Bengal is the result of such threats, according to the BJP leader.

“During the most recent municipal corporation elections in the state, voters were also threatened. Leaders of the TMC are now openly threatening voters. TMC’s forced attempts to win the election influence not only the elections but the entire community. It has also reached the state Assembly, where BJP MLAs have been assaulted,” Ghosh added, firing more salvos at Mamata’s party for its aggressive political strategy.

If necessary, I will contact the EC and the President: Sukanta Majumdar, the state BJP president, has also stated that the BJP will urge the Election Commission to take harsh action against the TMC. “Today, all West Bengal MPs would attend the ECI.” “We’ll encourage them to pay attention to the video of TMC MLA Naren Chakraborty making threats to BJP voters,” Majumdar said.

TMC MLA RP Singh was also criticized by BJP leader RP Singh for his threatening remarks. In response to the incident, Singh stated that if necessary, the BJP would approach the EC or even the President. “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will combat it. The BJP will do whatever it takes, including approaching the Election Commission and, if necessary, India’s President. Mamata should understand that in India, the rule of law works and that a dictatorship will not work,” the BJP leader said.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time a TMC legislator has publicly criticized the BJP. A TMC MLA has previously vowed to “look after” BJP leaders and activists in West Bengal’s Coochbehar district “properly” in August 2020. This was said just one day after Abhishek Banerjee’s convoy was allegedly attacked in Tripura, which is governed by the BJP.

MNS Threatens Protests Over Unpaid Allowances for Navi Mumbai Civic Workers

Party sets deadline for NMMC to clear long-pending dues, warning of citywide agitations if demands remain ignored.

The Protest

A growing dispute over unpaid allowances has pushed municipal sanitation staff, contract workers, and civic employees to the brink of a major showdown with the NMMC. Stepping in on behalf of the struggling workforce, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has issued a stern ultimatum to civic authorities: clear the financial backlogs immediately or face aggressive street protests.

For months, essential municipal workers many of whom form the backbone of the city’s daily sanitation and administrative operations have been waiting on crucial arrears. These include pending festival bonuses, hazard allowances, and overtime payments that remain tangled in administrative red tape. Labor leaders allege that despite repeated appeals, municipal leadership and third-party contractors continue to push back payouts, leaving hundreds of low-income families in distress.

Taking up the mantle through its labor union wing, the Maharashtra Navnirman Kamgar Sena, MNS representatives formally handed a memorandum of demands to the NMMC Commissioner. Party leaders warned that patience among the workforce has worn thin.

“These workers keep the city running every single day, yet they have to fight for basic wages and earned allowances,” said a party spokesperson. “If NMMC administration does not settle these dues without further delay, we will take to the streets and shut down operations at headquarters.”

While NMMC officials maintain that administrative procedures are underway to resolve the billing discrepancies, the threat of an imminent agitation leaves Navi Mumbai facing potential disruption to its essential public services.

Navi Mumbai Civic Body Bridges the Healthcare Gap with Free Screenings and Follow-up Care Across Local Centers.

The Drive

In a major boost to public health, 1,292 citizens were screened during a free cancer detection drive conducted across various health centers by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).

The initiative focused on early detection for common cancers including oral, breast, and cervical cancers giving local residents access to crucial preventive care close to home. Medical teams set up diagnostic stations at Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) to ensure seamless access, particularly for working-class and middle-income families.

Beyond basic checkups, civic health teams provided guidance on early warning signs, lifestyle risks, and the importance of routine health monitoring. Citizens identified with potential symptoms received direct referrals to municipal hospitals for further testing and subsidized follow-up treatment.

Community health drives play an essential role in saving lives by catching illnesses before they progress. By making preventive care accessible to all, NMMC continues to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the city.
