TMC Goons are preventing me from doing my job as a public representative Cong Leader Adhir Chowdhury

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a Congress member in the Lok Sabha, has accused West Bengal’s ruling TMC of preventing him from discharging his duties as a public representative and has requested Speaker Om Birla to take up the matter with the appropriate authorities.

In a letter to Birla, Chowdhury, who is also the head of the West Bengal Congress, claims that “goons of the ruling TMC” are obstructing him during municipal elections in the presence of local police. He highlighted many cases in his constituency of Behrampur where Congress nominees, including women, were alleged “mercilessly beaten up” and compelled to withdraw their nominations or not campaign.

“TMC goons are abusing and humiliating me in public, and I am unable to perform my obligations as an MP. My ability to carry out my duties as a public representative is being hampered “PTI quoted Chowdhury as saying

He claimed that he is being prohibited from assisting people in need to order to create an atmosphere in which “the public cannot trust me.” “Whenever I go out to help Congress workers in need, I am stopped, gheraoed, and encircled by ruling party hooligans who are waging a terror campaign in collusion with the local police,” he claimed.

Chowdhury further said that this is being done to damage the Congress, which is pitted against West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). “As a local representative, I am obligated to attend to the problems and requirements of my constituency,” Chowdhury wrote in his letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker. Even if the phone at strange hours, I owe it to them to visit them, listen to their difficulties, and assist them to the best of my ability. The ruling party in West Bengal, on the other hand, obstructs my ability to carry out my obligations as a public representative directly and indirectly.”

The Congressman further claimed that “ruling party goons” are threatening violence against candidates from other political parties. “Whenever I go out to campaign or to respond to the needs of my constituents, I get mobbed/gheraoed and heckled by TMC goons.” In West Bengal, my freedom is severely limited. In conjunction with the local government, the governing party goons are responsible for all the violence and annoyance, as well as limiting my movement.

“As the protector of the rights and duties of Parliament members of the Lok Sabha,” he said, “I will ask you to take up the problem with the authorities concerned so that I can efficiently execute my responsibilities as an MP and political leader.” West Bengal held voting for 108 civic bodies on Sunday, and the votes will be counted on March 2.
