The NMMC Started The “Swachhta Apnao, Bimari Bhagao” Campaign
A new campaign was started by NMMC in Navi Mumbai.
The Campaign
NMMC’s Public Hospital in Vashi hosted the ‘Swachhta Apnao, Bimari Bhagao’ campaign, which was officially launched on July 1st under the direction of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde. Dr. Shinde emphasized the critical relationship between hygiene and public health and the significance of keeping a clean environment, particularly during the rainy season.
Speaking to the crowd, Dr. Shinde listed important health-protective habits including boiling and purifying water, separating household garbage, and making sure it is disposed of properly. He emphasized that the initiative helps avoid diseases like diarrhea, dengue, and malaria, which frequently increase during the monsoon season because of dirty water and sluggish conditions.
Mr. Sunil Pawar, Additional Commissioner, reaffirmed the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s dedication to health and cleanliness programs throughout the city. He urged people to actively engage in the campaign’s initiatives to raise public awareness of sanitation issues and promote community engagement.
During his talk on environmental balance, Mr. Shubham Vanmali—a well-known international swimmer and young ambassador for the Swachh Navi Mumbai Mission—cited variations in water temperature that he saw while swimming as evidence of the effects of climate change. He called for group efforts to achieve sustainability.
Dr. Prashant Javade, the Medical Health Officer, emphasized the continuous health surveys being conducted at civic health centers to keep an eye on disorders associated to monsoon. He emphasized how the campaign will help spread awareness of public health issues and encourage preventative actions. Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, medical officers, and staff were recognized for their services on Doctor’s Day with flower tributes.
The initiative, which runs from July 1 to August 31, 2024, consists of targeted cleaning campaigns, waste management plans, water quality monitoring, sanitation teaching in schools, and community engagement with a health focus. It seeks to improve Navi Mumbai’s cleanliness and well-being while strengthening public health readiness in the face of seasonal difficulties.
