The National Ganga Clean-up Mission is ready to clean a 22-kilometer stretch of the Yamuna River

The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) is cleaning the Yamuna river over a 22-kilometer stretch of Delhi as part of its Namami Gange initiative, which aims to restore the river’s purity and cleanliness.

Authorities in the nation’s capital have identified the river length. They’ll try to stop sewage from flowing into the river. They also intend to divert the sewage flow into sewage treatment plants (STPs). NMCG has also taken the initiative to promote the cause by forming a new STP in collaboration with the Delhi government.

They will also aim to avoid factory garbage from being dumped in the river to fulfill their goal of reviving the sacred river. The NMCG crew is working to remove debris, dust, filth, and untreated chemical waste from the river.

The NMCG’s attempt to clean up the Yamuna in Delhi

“The flow of the Yamuna…up to where the Chambal enters is terrible since there is a lot of pollution entering the area. Only after the Chambal joins, which subsequently joins, and that water flows and unites at Ganga, does it become pure. The detected portion of the River Yamuna in Delhi is the most polluted. Because it is effectively stagnant water with no extra water entering into it, it does not witness any flow “According to ANI, G Asok Kumar, Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga,

“We’re now concentrating our efforts on cleaning up the Yamuna. There are approximately 18 Nallahs in Delhi that flow into this 22-kilometer stretch, bringing a large amount of water into the city “He went on to say.

Every day, a total of 3,200 MLD of sewage is produced.

Adding to that, “Along with Delhi’s wastewater, dirty water from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh arrives. Delhi generates the majority of sewage water, as well as dirty water from three states. Total sewage is estimated to be around 3,200 megaliters per day (MLD), with a treatment capacity of 2,600 MLD. 24 STPs treat approximately 2600 MLD, with a 650 MLD gap. As a result, something must be done about it ”

Senior officials from the NMCG recently visited the Coronation Pillar Sewage Treatment Plant in Delhi, one of the largest STPs, to examine the current construction work. This STP would treat 318 MLD of wastewater and will cost Rs. 515 crores to construct, with Rs. 414 crore in capital investment. The National Mission for Clean Ganga will cover half of the capital expenditures, while the Delhi government would cover the balance. In collaboration with the Delhi government, the NMCG is also building Decentralized-STPs in Delhi parks.

“What we have done in the last few years since the Namami Gange was formed, we have sanctioned 23 projects in the Yamuna sector for about 4,200 crores to address pollution issues in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh so that the entire stretch of the Yamuna is cleaned up,” the NMCG chief said.

The Skywalk

Tourism in Palghar district got a high-altitude boost on Independence Day with the grand unveiling of a spectacular glass skywalk at the famous Dabhosa Waterfall. Inaugurated by Maharashtra Forest Minister and District Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, the landmark project marks Palghar’s first-ever transparent skywalk, sparking immense excitement among locals and travel enthusiasts.

Engineered to offer an adrenaline-pumping perspective, the structure features a 5-meter-long transparent glass walkway leading to an 11-foot-wide circular viewing deck.
