EAM Jaishankar met with Chinese Foreign Minister and reviewed Chinas position on Kashmir

Dr. S Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, and Wang Yi, the Chinese Foreign Minister, met today in Delhi for delegation-level talks. This is the highest level of engagement between the two countries since the Galwan border clash in 2020.

Wang Yi had already visited with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. They spoke about the possibility of entirely disengaging Indian and Chinese troops on their respective borders. Doval and Wang highlighted the importance of early and complete withdrawal in contentious areas, as well as the elimination of impediments to normalize the bilateral relationship.

At Hyderabad House in Delhi, Dr. Jaishankar met Wang.

“We talked for approximately three hours and discussed a broad substantive topic in an open and forthright way,” Dr. Jaishankar stated shortly after the meeting. We talked about how Chinese activities in April 2020 had harmed our bilateral relations.”

Dr. Jaishankar revealed some of the issues of discussion during a news conference following the discussions. He also voiced his displeasure with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s remarks on the subject of Jammu and Kashmir at a recent meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). “I explained to him why we thought that statement offensive,” he added. It was a topic that was explored in depth. I expressed our confidence that China will pursue an autonomous foreign policy and will not be influenced by anything.”

In response to a journalist’s query on Quad, he stated that there was no mention of Quad. “The Indo-Pacific was not considered in the same way as the quad,” he explained.

In addition, Dr. Jaishankar stated that India’s current relationship with China is unhealthy. “No, our relationship is not normal, given the presence of a large number of troops in contravention of the 1993-96 agreements,” he replied when asked if everything between India and China is fine.

“The border situation is abnormal as long as there are large deployments.” Although there are still some areas of friction, such as Pangong Tso, we have made progress in resolving some of them. “Today, we talked about how to move forward with this,” he said.

“Current situation is a work in Progress,’ obviously at a slower pace than desirable,” Dr. Jaishankar said, emphasizing the current situation.

The completion of the disengagement is required for disengagement, so this needs to be pursued.”

As per reports, the two also stressed the need of maintaining productive diplomatic and military interactions to restore peace and tranquilly. Both nations agreed that efforts must be taken to ensure that their operations do not jeopardize the spirit of equality and mutual security.

Topics such as Indian students enrolling in Chinese institutions were also discussed during the conference. “I also spoke out forcefully against the plight of Indian students studying in China who have been denied permission to return due to Covid restrictions.” Dr. Jaishankar remarked, “We hope China would take a non-discriminatory attitude since it impacts the future of many young people.”

The visit might be viewed as a step toward rekindling the physical connection after a long impasse. Wang Yi will fly to Nepal later today after stopping in Pakistan and Afghanistan on his way to Delhi.

In a major boost to public health, 1,292 citizens were screened during a free cancer detection drive conducted across various health centers by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).

The initiative focused on early detection for common cancers including oral, breast, and cervical cancers giving local residents access to crucial preventive care close to home. Medical teams set up diagnostic stations at Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) to ensure seamless access, particularly for working-class and middle-income families.

Access to quality healthcare just got a major boost for local families. Meta Multispeciality Hospital officially opened its doors in Ghansoli Sector 4, promising state-of-the-art medical technology alongside a deeply human approach to community care.

The facility was inaugurated by Forest Minister and Palghar Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, who toured the premises to inspect its emergency wards, OPD facilities, and advanced diagnostic machinery. Speaking to attendees, Naik praised the hospital’s leadership for prioritizing affordable, high-quality treatment for middle-class households.

What sets the hospital apart, however, is its landmark social welfare initiative announced during the opening by community leader Sagar Chougule and hospital administrator Dr. Swarna Shelke:

  • Free Maternity Care for Girl Child Deliveries: To celebrate and encourage the birth of female children, the hospital will waive all delivery charges for mothers giving birth to baby girls.
  • Free OPD Services for Seniors: Outpatient consultations will be entirely free for senior citizens aged 65 and above.
