CM Shree Eknath Shinde resolved the Maratha reservation issue in Navi Mumbai.

The Issue

Shree Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, met with the Maratha community members who had assembled in Navi Mumbai and addressed their concerns over community reservations. Speaking to the hundreds of Maratha quota reservation supporters, Shree Eknath Shinde said that choices made for the general benefit of the populace that is, for farmers, laborers, and the ordinary man were not motivated by political considerations.

Shree Manoj Jarange Patil, a quota campaigner, was persuaded to halt his hunger strike in a symbolic action by the Chief Minister in support of Maratha community reservation. Shree Jarange Patil thanked CM Shinde by putting gulal on the Chief Minister’s forehead after Shinde gave him a copy of the government’s announcement. Festive chants honoring the heritage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj were used to celebrate the occasion.

On Saturday, January 27, at around nine in the morning, Chief Minister Shree Eknath Shinde and Shree Jarange Patil arrived in Vashi and dedicated the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk. Shree Jarange Patil was handed a copy of the government’s announcement and, after drinking the Chief Minister’s Mosambi juice, formally broke his fast. Chief Minister Shree Eknath Shinde was congratulated on the occasion by the Maratha community, who acknowledged the government’s dedication.

Speaking to the gathering Chief Minister Shree Eknath Shinde stressed his commitment to upholding the public pledge he took to ensure that the Maratha community enjoys reservations within the bounds of the law. CM Shinde appreciated the Maratha community’s disciplined and non-confrontational attitude to the campaign and showed empathy for their sufferings, drawing on his own background as an ordinary farmer’s son.

Navi Mumbai Police Arrest African National With Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Cocaine In Ulwe

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.
