The Innovative Road Safety Campaign Of Turbhe Traffic Police, Rakhis Instead Of Penalties

Published

Turbhe traffic police’s unique road safety campaign gave rakhis in spite of penalties.

The Campaign

Under the direction of Senior Police Inspector Srikant Dharne, the Turbhe road Police used an unusual approach to spread awareness about road safety on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, which was a wonderful gesture. The police officers tied rakhis to drivers as a warning to obey traffic laws for their own safety as well as the safety of other people, rather than fining them for penalties. Under the direction of Tirupati Kakade, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, this program was implemented.

At Sanpada Junction, the campaign specifically targeted drivers of rickshaws and other vehicles deemed to be in violation of traffic laws, such as not donning seat belts, helmets, or uniforms. Rather than levying penalties, the police conversed with the infractions, outlining the importance of following traffic laws. Rakhis and pedhas, which represent the bond of protection and exhort drivers to safeguard themselves and others by adhering to traffic laws, were distributed to further emphasize the message.

According to Senior Police Inspector Srikant Dharne, “this initiative aims to instill in citizens a permanent sense of responsibility towards traffic safety.” “While legal action is regularly taken against those who flout the rules, today’s effort was about raising awareness through a more compassionate approach.”

Police officers Yogeshwar Thakur, Vaibhav Pol, Rekha Gosavi, and Police Sub-Inspector Dayanand Mahadeshwar all backed the effort.

Apart from the Raksha Bandhan event, a targeted push was carried out on Friday to discourage drivers from driving without a helmet. About sixty drivers received free helmet distributions from the police, who emphasized the vital role helmets play in maintaining rider safety.
