A combined meeting between local Bhumiputra and CIDCO authorities was place today under the Urban Development Department, which is a key step towards resolving long-standing concerns encountered by project victims in Navi Mumbai. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde issued the directive that called for this meeting, which MP Naresh Mhaske oversaw. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and resolve issues impeding the regularization of essential structures.

The state government gave orders two years ago to regularize projects that Bhumiputras, who were the residents of villages in the Panvel and Uran talukas of Navi Mumbai, had to make out of necessity. But there have been a lot of challenges with implementation. The government made strategic decisions on February 25, 2022, and December 7, 2022, to regularize these constructions; but, difficulties have continued, causing CIDCO and local inhabitants to face persistent obstacles.

The meeting was arranged in large part thanks to MP Naresh Mhaske, who had promised to make the resolution of this matter a priority during the Lok Sabha election campaign.

Important people including CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal, Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Vijay Nahata, Shiv Sena District Chief Vijay Choughule, former corporator Shivram Patil, Kishore Patkar, and local Shiv Sainiks attended the event, which was presided over by Asim Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department.

The main goal of the discussion was to draft a plan that would minimize disruption to nearby landowners and regularize the projects. It is anticipated that Chief Minister Shinde will receive this proposal soon for final approval.

MP Naresh Mhaske expressed hope that the government will soon issue an order granting regularization. In the meantime, Bhumiputras affected by the project continue to have their needs met thanks to the efforts of Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Vijay Nahata. Nahata communicated with Asim Gupta and met with CIDCO Vice Chairman Vijay Singhal two days ago to outline the resolution approach, which reflects continued attempts to properly settle the situation.
