SFJ terrorist Jaswinder Multani caught by German authorities on India’s request
Jaswinder Singh Multani, a major member of the terrorist organisation Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has been caught in Germany for his role in the Ludhiana court blast and a plot to target locations in Delhi and Mumbai. Notably, the bomb in the Ludhiana court went off while it was being planted, killing the accused who was doing the placement.
Multani was reportedly apprehended after the Indian government asked the German police to do so. Multani is a close acquaintance of SFJ’s founder, terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. Pannu is involved in a number of anti-India actions and his lectures frequently encourage Sikhs around the world.
Multani was apprehended by German officials in Erfurt, in central Germany.
According to sources, Multani is linked to Khalistani leaders like as Hardeep Singh Nijjer, Paramjit Singh Pamma, Sabi Singh, Kulwant Singh Mothada, and others. He is suspected of importing firearms and ammunition into Punjab from Pakistan.
Multani, 45, was previously a resident of Punjab’s Hoshiarpur. According to a source mentioned by Hindustan Times, he was caught on the security forces’ radar for arranging and shipping weaponry from Pakistan to Punjab, including hand grenades, explosives, and pistols, with the support of Pakistani operatives. Multani was also planned to use the shipment he smuggled from Pakistan to carry out terrorist activities in Punjab, according to the officer.
The Modi government has asked German authorities to help.
According to the insider, the Modi government had contacted German officials at the highest diplomatic levels to alert them about Multani’s involvement in a plot to attack cities such as Mumbai and Delhi.
Multani was also named in the blast at the district court in Ludhiana on December 23, which claimed the lives of two people and injured six more. The incident prompted the state to issue a high-level warning.
Khalistani operatives have been apprehended recently.
Punjab Police detained four persons in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Ferozpur in February 2020. These individuals were found with eight countrymade firearms and ammunition. According to the police, they obtained illicit guns in order to carry out terrorist actions in the state.
A man named Jeevan Singh was later apprehended by the police. Multani, according to sources, radicalised him through social media. He was allegedly hired to assassinate Balbir Singh Rajewal, a powerful agricultural leader. Rajewal was recently named as the face of the farmer-led political party that would run in the coming Assembly elections.
Multani allegedly paid money to Jeevan Singh to arrange firearms against Rajewal, according to the official. Multani recruited another Tarn Taran man in August, who was meant to organise two hand grenades for terrorist acts in the state.
SJF’s Hounslow headquarters had been raided by British police in November. During the operation, the police discovered electronic devices and documentation pertaining to the referendum 2020.’ In the same month, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) urged that Sikhs For Justice be designated as a terrorist organisation by Canadian authorities.
In a recent statement, Punjab Director General of Police Siddharth Chattopadhyaya said that Gagandeep Singh, a discharged head constable who was killed in the Ludhiana blast while attempting to install an explosive device in the court complex, had ties to Khalistani terrorist groups. He went on to say that the incident in Ludhiana could have been carried out by Pakistani operators.
