The ongoing ‘Safai Apnao – Bimari Bhagao’ campaign by NMMC is redefining cleanliness drives by blending sanitation with wellness and public awareness activities.

The Campaign

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) ‘Safai Apnao – Bimari Bhagao’ campaign, launched on July 1 under the guidance of Commissioner Dr. Kailash Shinde, is gaining momentum by combining sanitation efforts with wellness and awareness initiatives.

After Navi Mumbai secured a top spot in the ‘Super Swachh League’ category of Swachh Survekshan 2024, the campaign has picked up pace across various nodes. In Airoli Sector 3, a yoga camp was organized for sanitation workers and volunteers, coordinated by Assistant Commissioner Sunil Kathole and Chief Sanitation Officer Rajendra Ingale. Conducted by the EHS Shiksha Foundation, the session focused on stress relief and the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life.

In Belapur, a de-addiction awareness session was held to educate sanitation workers about the health and family risks linked to substance abuse. Raincoats were also distributed to workers as part of a CSR initiative supported by Sarvodaya Small Finance Bank.

Simultaneously, cleanliness drives were carried out in multiple areas. In Nerul, efforts were focused near the D.Y. Patil Stadium with support from Sterling College NCC cadets. In Vashi, sanitation teams led a clean-up at Mini Sea Shore, which also included tree plantation activities.

The campaign continues to reflect NMMC’s commitment to holistic public health and cleanliness, with plans for more integrated activities in the coming weeks.
