Roopa Ganguly of BJP slams West Bengal Chief Minister remarks on the victim of the Hanskhali

Published

on

Roopa Ganguly, a West Bengal BJP politician, has criticized Mamata Banerjee for her statements on an alleged rape of a child in Nadia district’s Hanskhali, adding that such words are unfit for the office of Chief Minister.

During her speech at the launch of the rebuilt ‘Milan Mela’ on April 11, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee raised various concerns about “whether the girl was indeed raped or was it an affair that got her pregnant.” CM Banerjee also questioned why a police report had not been filed sooner. Four days after the event, the parents of the class 9 kid allegedly filed a complaint.

Ganguly slammed Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, saying that if she knows everything about the matter, she should convene a news conference and address questions.

It’s worth noting that the accused is the son of a politician of the Trinamool Congress, the party that CM Banerjee leads. On April 5, the victim was allegedly gang-raped while at a birthday celebration hosted by the accused at his home.

She was bleeding excessively after going home from the party, according to the police complaint made by the underage girl’s parents, and she died later that night.

The NCPCR has taken notice, and a PIL has been filed at the Calcutta High Court.

In the meantime, the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken “serious notice” of the situation. Priyank Kanoongo, the NCPCR’s chairman, has requested the CM to follow the law of the nation rather than sharia law.

According to the NCPCR’s director, “There has been a serious consideration. THE WB CM IS OBLIGATED TO FOLLOW THE LAW OF THE LAND, NOT SHARIA LAW. She was a juvenile, and the allegations of gang rape were not made in a consenting manner. We’ve requested a report from the local government “.

Advocate Anindya Sundar Das filed a PIL at the Calcutta High Court, requesting a CBI investigation into the issue. The accused, Brajagopal Goala, has already been apprehended by police and a complaint has been filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012. According to a senior police official, the second arrest happened early on April 12th.

“This morning, we detained another individual. At the birthday party, he was present. It’s being looked into his involvement. We discovered inconsistencies in his accounts of what happened. Two additional partygoers were detained and questioned “According to sources, the officer stated.
