Phase Two Of The Water Quality Inspection Campaign Has Been Successfully Completed By NMMC

After analysing more than 2,000 water samples over the course of two Sundays, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has successfully finished the Sectored phase of its special water quality inspection program. The goal of this project is to guarantee that residents have access to safe and clean water.

During the rainy season, the Water Supply Department greatly increased its testing efforts, with the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde. Special campaigns were carried out on August 4 and August 11. Every Sunday, the inspection crew collected over 1,000 samples from a variety of places, including residential neighbourhoods, business complexes, schools, and impoverished regions.

Key water quality metrics including pH, turbidity, total dissolved solids (TDS), and residual chlorine were the focus of the testing. Additionally, the government laboratory at Kokan Bhawan and the Municipal Corporation’s central laboratory performed the E-coli test. This extensive testing guarantees that water quality regulations are fulfilled while also assisting in the identification of any contaminants.

Samples were taken for the campaign from a number of locations, such as Jalakumbh, Bhokarpada Water Purification Center, and the main water channel. 95% of the 1,021 samples that were analyzed on Sunday were determined to be of excellent quality. Chlorine concentrations were changed as needed to enhance the cleanliness of the water.

Arvind Shinde, a city engineer, emphasized the campaign’s efficacy further and mentioned that the larger sample size enables more thorough observation and timely adjustments. NMMC’s dedication to delivering clean and safe water is demonstrated by this particular project, which is a part of the central government’s ‘Safai Apnao, Bimari Bhagao’ campaign.

Shinde also acknowledged the hard work of Deputy Engineers Vasant Padghan, Shankar Jadhav, and Swapnil Desai, as well as other employees from different departments, for the campaign’s success. The lengthy testing procedure has been made easier by the eight sites of NMMC’s laboratories.

The public’s positive response to the campaign demonstrates NMMC’s proactive approach to upholding strict water quality requirements and safeguarding public health. The community’s assistance in this important project is much appreciated by the company.
