The Camp

Citizens responds very positively to the health awareness camps that the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is conducting under the direction of NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde. The goal of these camps is to stop the spread of epidemic and waterborne diseases like dengue and viral fever.

24 Primary Civil Health Centres hosted awareness camps every day in August. Extra sessions were organized from September 14 to 16, which coincided with Ganeshotsav celebrations. These programs benefited more than 107,352 locals. Similar camps were held on September 25 and drew 10,780 residents. Blood samples were taken from 641 participants during these workshops, which also included practical demonstrations and education about the dangers and defenses against dengue and winter fever.

Anopheles and Aedes mosquito breeding areas were visually shown at the camps, along with helpful information on how to eradicate these breeding grounds from both inside and outside of dwellings. It was requested of the populace to remove tires and scraps, clean and dry containers on a regular basis, cover water storage barrels with fabric or traditional clothing, and avoid letting water collect on rooftops.

Citizens are urged to assume personal responsibility by getting rid of mosquito breeding areas near their homes in addition to the NMMC’s efforts. Boiling drinking water, washing veggies well, keeping food off of the counter, and maintaining hygiene are all important habits.

The significance of community collaboration in reducing the prevalence of waterborne illnesses such as dengue and winter fever in Navi Mumbai was emphasized by Dr. Kailas Shinde. To protect the city’s public health, the Commissioner urged citizens to actively engage in these health activities.
