On The Pedestrian Sidewalk Leading From Sector 1, Sanpada To Vashi Station, There Is Once Again A Heap Of Trash

Trash pile reappears on the pedestrian walkway in Navi Mumbai.

The Trash

Residents of Sanpada Sector 1 in Navi Mumbai are still quite frustrated by the growing trash problem in the area. The area next to the sewage canal has become an ugly and expanding landfill despite the hundreds of commuters who use it every day as the only route between Raj Uday CHS and Vashi Station.

In a post on X, an individual, who persistently and aggressively brings attention to Sanpada’s filth, stated, “The only way from Sanpada to Vashi station for hundreds of people daily at Navi Mumbai Sanpada Sector 1 (along the sewage) had become a waste dump.” Sanpada is intact, while the trash heap remains at Sector 1.

The path is covered in litter, with food scraps, plastic, and paper collecting dangerously near the railings that overlook the canal. Due to the unclean situations, this pathway—which is the main thoroughfare for people heading to Vashi Station—now presents a health risk in addition to an aesthetic issue.

Another Sanpada resident, voiced her displeasure, saying, “We urgently need more frequent clean-up initiatives and stricter enforcement of anti-littering regulations.” Fines should be imposed on those found to be littering in order to deter such behaviour.

“It is irresponsible for citizens to throw away waste, especially non-biodegradable items like plastic cups,” she continued, “but it is also the responsibility of the municipal authorities to regularly deploy sanitation teams.” It is imperative that the authorities take prompt action to maintain the cleanliness of our neighborhood.
