No violence on Ram Navami said Yogi Adityanath of progressive Uttar Pradesh

Published

on

On Ram Navami, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed the state has set an example by proving that “riots and anarchy have no place in UP.” His comments come after at least six other states saw violence and conflicts on Sunday when Ram Navami processions took place to commemorate the Hindu holiday. “Ram Navami was observed the day prior. The state of Uttar Pradesh has a population of 25 million people. Over 800 processions were held across the state during the Hindu holiday. In addition, the holy month of Ramzan is being observed at the same time.

In a video posted to his Twitter account, the chief minister is heard saying, “There may have been programmes tied to Rozas as well.”

“But there were no tu-tu main (arguments), let alone riots and disturbance, everywhere.” This is evidence of UP’s new progressive mindset. There is no room for rioting and turmoil here. “UP has proved this on the Ram Navami celebration,” said the 49-year-old BJP leader, who set a milestone last month when he took oath for a second term, becoming the first UP chief minister in three decades to do so.

On Sunday, violence erupted across Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Karnataka when Ram Navami processions were held. In Gujarat, another BJP-ruled state, further violence erupted in Himmatnagar, one of the two cities impacted.

According to accounts, tear gas shells were used to disperse a throng.

Madhya Pradesh has established a claims tribunal, and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan convened a high-level meeting on Tuesday, just one day after declaring that “rioters will not be spared.” Hundreds of people have been detained in Khargone and other districts as a result of the violence.

Tensions were high in Bihar on Tuesday following Monday’s violence, which left five people injured after a dispute over the route of a parade in the Aurangabad region.
