Navi Mumbai gets caught in Air Pollution

Published

on

Concerns have been raised by Sector 26, Vashi inhabitants about the dangerously high levels of air pollution, especially at night. Locals are suspicious of the Maharashtra Pollution Board’s motives because there are no Air Quality Centers open during these crucial hours.

The biggest TTC in Asia is located in the industrial belt, which has been cited as a major source to the pollution issue. There have been complaints of untreated sewage being dumped into drains and toxic chemical gasses being released into the air by chemical industries in the area. This has upset the locals, with some even reporting sickness and vomiting in Airoli.

The fact that Air Quality Centers are closed during the hours of worst pollution has complicated efforts to solve this problem. Residents still suffer since there aren’t any real-time monitoring or response systems in place, even with the construction of a center close to Kopri Nalla.

Residents of Kopri are suspecting that the Pollution Control Board is unintentionally aiding polluting companies, given the shutdown of the Kopri Air Quality Centre. Concerned residents and prominent leaders, such as the Signal Head of the Navi Mumbai Foundation, who queries the administration’s dedication to preserving citizens’ lives, share this opinion.

Residents have been reassured by Jayant Kadam, Deputy Regional Officer of the Maharashtra Pollution Board, in response to these complaints, that daily records are kept and that any apparent closure of the Kopri Air Quality Center will be swiftly examined for technical reasons.

Nevertheless, the situation for the people living in Kopri hamlet and the surrounding areas is still terrible despite growing worries and demands for action. Sector 26 resident and professor Vinilkumar Singh stresses how urgently authorities must address the pollution situation before more lives are lost.
