Navi Mumbai being vandalize by Illegal advertising & hoardings

Published

on

Authorities have neglected to enforce court rulings banning unlawful banners and hoardings in public locations despite the fact that offenders frequently hang political posters that stand out in the city. The political parties have only been encouraged to deface the city’s landscape by the lack of any local deterrent measures. In Navi Mumbai, illegal banners and hoardings are proliferating since officials aren’t doing anything to put a stop to the practise. Residents said that either city authorities are given a pass or that they are afraid to prosecute ‘high profile’ criminals with political power.

The civic authority had rarely let the lawbreakers deface the city during the last lap of the Swachh Survey the previous year, and when the surveillance ended, the city was inundated with illegitimate banners and hoarding. And the authorities are not taking any action against those responsible for disobeying court orders to remove them or to punish them. In the city’s various sites over the past several weeks, a number of unlawful flags have appeared. Without the required approval from several civic authorities and traffic police, banners similar to birthday posters have blanketed the chowks and roadways around the town.

There is a double standard here. Putting up a banner for free is not allowed for the average person. A citizen of Koparkhairane named Navin Sharma questioned, “Why is the same standard not applied to politicians? Many locals question why such a big act of vandalism persists undetected although ward authorities have the right to let the banners to be displayed on the streets based on price charts. “We’ve had enough of the civic body’s contradictory policy. In a recent ruling to make urban areas free of vandalism, the High Court gave stringent instructions to the civic entities, but in vain. For making the city seem bad, the culprits should face punishment.

An activist said that all of the banners being placed across NMMC nodes included the images of politicians. Special teams have been sent for the crackdown, according to a top city official. Even following court orders, unauthorised flags have covered the whole NMMC region, painting the city.
