Most Assam Congress Netas Want To Join The BJP : Himanta Sarma

Published

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that most leaders of the Sonia Gandhi-led party are close to him a day after Ripun Bora defected from the Congress to the TMC. In his resignation letter, Bora stated that senior Assam Congress leaders have a “hidden arrangement” with the BJP-led administration and Sarma. The Assam chief minister told the media on Monday night that many of the aforementioned figures wanted to join the BJP, but that the latter couldn’t accommodate them all due to practical limits.

According to Himanta Sarma, “Almost all Assam Congress leaders, including Ripun Bora, are close to me. I’ve spent 22 years of my life in the House of Representatives. Many others want to join the BJP and walk beside us, but you must make room for them as well “, added he, “So it’s a growing issue; some individuals will be coming to us. Those who are unable to join the BJP are leaving the Congress party, as they consider the party’s future in the state and country as bleak “, He further asserted that due to their relationship, certain Congress MLAs will continue to vote for the BJP.

In the Rajya Sabha elections, the BJP shocks Congress.

After the BJP’s re-election in 2021, Rupjyoti Kurmi and Sushanta Borgohain of the Congress, as well as Phanidhar Talukdar of the AIUDF, transferred their allegiance to the saffron party. The Congress just suffered another blow as the BJP won both Assam seats in the March 31 elections. Due to the retirement of Congress members Ripun Bora and Ranee Narah, two seats in the Upper House from Assam have become vacant.

With 82 MLAs in the NDA, the success of the BJP’s first-choice candidate was a foregone conclusion, since he only needed 43 votes to win. Congress and its supporters, on the other hand, we’re in a strong position to have their candidate chosen for the second seat since they had 44 lawmakers, two more than the minimum number. While the BJP’s first-choice candidate, Pabitra Margherita, earned 46 votes, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal disclosed that the UPPL’s working president, Rwngwra Narzary, garnered 44 votes.

Previous Assam Congress president Ripun Bora, on the other side, received only 35 votes, with one vote being rejected. This means that a handful of parliamentarians voted in favor of the ruling coalition with the BJP by casting a cross-vote. Sashi Kanta Das, a suspended Congress MLA, voted for the BJP, while Siddique Ahmed, a Karimganj South MLA, was suspended for voting incorrectly. With the win, the BJP became the first party since 1988 to gain 100 seats in the Rajya Sabha.

Independence Day Opening Brings Thrill-Seekers to Palghar’s Tribal Heartlands with Breathtaking Canopy Views

The Skywalk

Tourism in Palghar district got a high-altitude boost on Independence Day with the grand unveiling of a spectacular glass skywalk at the famous Dabhosa Waterfall. Inaugurated by Maharashtra Forest Minister and District Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, the landmark project marks Palghar’s first-ever transparent skywalk, sparking immense excitement among locals and travel enthusiasts.

Engineered to offer an adrenaline-pumping perspective, the structure features a 5-meter-long transparent glass walkway leading to an 11-foot-wide circular viewing deck. Suspended high above the gorge, it gives visitors a front-row view of Dabhosa’s white waters cascading nearly 300 feet down into the lush green valley below.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Ganesh Naik highlighted the dual focus on thrill and regional growth. A designated parking area roughly 400 to 500 feet away is being developed via specialized agencies to manage visitor footfall smoothly while generating vital local revenue for the village panchayat.

“Under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, our focus is bringing economic and educational progress to tribal-dominated districts like Palghar,” Naik said, emphasizing that eco-tourism projects create sustainable livelihoods.

The inauguration saw a strong turnout of dignitaries, including MP Dr. Hemant Savara, MLAs Rajendra Gavit and Harishchandra Bhoye, District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, and SP Yatish Deshmukh. Combining scenic beauty with an edge-of-your-seat thrill, Palghar’s newest jewel is poised to become a must-visit weekend getaway.
