Rs. 5 crore approved for repair work of Khopte Bridge in Uran.
The Repair
A long-awaited milestone has occurred: the Public Works Department has authorized Rs. 5 crore for the Khopte Bridge’s strengthening and restoration. Growing potholes have made the bridge, which spans the East and West halves of Uran Taluka, more dangerous and have sparked worries about possible mishaps.
Due to asphalt layer erosion, the bridge’s two lanes—which are often utilized by both heavy and passenger vehicles—have deteriorated, exposing and loosening the reinforcing bars. since of the damage, there is now a much higher chance of accidents since cars’ tires can become caught in the potholes. Since the Khopte Bridge is an essential connection between different areas of the local community, it has grown to be a significant source of worry.
The bridge has been in operation since its 1995 opening without a formal inauguration. Its recurrent degradation can be attributed to the fact that it was built to transport huge container vehicles.

The bridge will be strengthened using new technology, especially to solve the frequent landslides. It is anticipated that the repairs will shortly start, improving passenger and heavy vehicle safety.
