In Navi Mumbai, three ladies donate their livers to loved ones

In Maharashtra, three ladies gave their loved ones livers on the night of Valentine’s Day. The surgeries were completed successfully at Medicover Hospitals in Navi Mumbai’s Kharghar, with the physicians referring to the surgery as a “gift of love.” Three women sacrificed livers: two to their husbands, one to her brother, and the third to save her brother’s life. The hospital staff members claimed that the action had inspired others to volunteer for organ donation. Rabindranath Shendare, a native of Panvel, was identified as having hepatitis B at the age of 38. He was sent to the ICU in November when his liver failed. Then Deepali Shendare, his wife, made the decision to donate a portion of her liver.

Both the donor and the receiver are both healthy and living typical lives. Mahendra Bordepatil, a 38-year-old male patient from Aurangabad who was diagnosed with Budd-Chiari syndrome, underwent venoplasty. But as his condition deteriorated, a liver transplant became necessary for him. His blood type was B, and no family member could donate blood that matched his blood type. Although his wife Rupali (34), had blood type A, she was eager to give her liver. The patient underwent a successful ABO-incompatible liver transplant, and is now totally recovered. Digambar Deshpande, 34, of Nanded was identified as having autoimmune liver disease in November.

He urgently required a liver transplant because of his weak liver function. Mangal Kapre, his sister, made the decision to donate a portion of her liver. The patient is currently getting well. “Patients with end-stage liver disease need a transplant as soon as possible. The urgent necessity is to increase the organ donation campaign and offer the dying new hope. Awareness-raising regarding organ donation is vital “Dr. Vikram Raut, director of HPB surgery and liver transplantation at Medicover Hospitals, remarked. He said that more women than men donate organs, and this is true in many circumstances. A committed team of skilled surgeons is necessary for every type of demanding operation or surgery. Dr. Vikram Raut, Dr. Hirak Pahari, Dr. Amrut Raj, Dr. Amey Sonawane, Dr. Ambreen Sawant, and Dr. Jayashree V. assisted Dr. Vikram Raut in performing this transplant procedure.
