Health Camp Organized for Sanitation Workers in Koparkhairane by Maharashtra Employees Union
Health camp held for sanitation workers in Navi Mumbai.
The Camp
In a major initiative to support the health of sanitation workers, the Maharashtra Employees Union (affiliated with INTUC and ITF) organized a comprehensive health camp at the Solid Waste Management transport unit in Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai. Spearheaded by union president Ravindra Sawant, the camp was conducted in collaboration with Suraj Hospital (Sanpada), Center for Sight Hospital (Nerul), and Dr. Swapnil Bhagwat, a dental specialist.
Hundreds of contract workers from the NMMC solid waste transport department and employees of AG Enviro Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. participated in the camp. The workers, who tirelessly serve the city from early morning till night collecting and transporting waste—even in hazardous conditions—often neglect their own health due to demanding work hours and financial constraints.
The camp provided free ECG, blood sugar testing, dental and eye check-up’s, mental health screenings, and examinations for spinal and neurological issues. Over 250–300 workers, including drivers, cleaners, and housekeeping staff, benefited from the services.
Ravindra Sawant emphasized that such initiatives will be held regularly, as the physical and mental well-being of workers is vital for their performance and dignity. He also urged the NMMC health department to conduct mandatory check-up’s every six months, which currently are lacking. The union reiterated its commitment to stand by every worker and their families, continuing to raise awareness and provide essential health support.
This impactful initiative highlights the urgent need for sustained health care for the city’s most essential but often overlooked workforce.

Online Gaming Addiction Leaves Navi Mumbai Man Claiming Rs 2.5 Crore Loss
Jayesh Pawar alleges massive financial losses and urges authorities to act against gaming platforms.
The Addiction
The growing popularity of online gaming for quick money is raising concerns in Navi Mumbai, with one resident claiming that he lost around Rs 2.5 crore after becoming trapped in the cycle of online gaming.
Navi Mumbai resident Jayesh Pawar has approached the authorities seeking action, alleging that he suffered huge financial losses through online gaming platforms. He also claimed that he lost around Rs 35 lakh at one stage while trying to recover earlier losses.
According to Pawar, the problem often begins with small bets. Initial wins can create confidence, encouraging players to invest larger amounts. Once losses begin, players may put in even more money in the hope of recovering what they have already lost.
Pawar claimed that he is not the only person facing such difficulties. He said several young people have reportedly lost lakhs and even crores through online gaming. Some, he alleged, borrowed money or sold property to continue playing.
The issue has also raised concerns about the wider impact of gaming addiction, including financial stress and problems within families. Pawar has urged the authorities to investigate such platforms and take appropriate action. His case has highlighted the need for greater awareness about the risks of chasing quick profits through online gaming.
