Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar examines the ongoing work of the city’s science park project

A ground-breaking Science Park project is under progress in Sector 19, Nerul, next to Wonders Park, in an effort to strengthen Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) reputation for innovative projects. Shree Rajesh Narvekar, the municipal commissioner, visited the location recently to evaluate the project’s development and guarantee its prompt completion, stressing its objective of meeting international standards. Architect Shree Hiten Sethi, City Engineer Shree Sanjay Desai, and other officials joined Shree Rajesh Narvekar, who emphasised the significance of giving Navi Mumbai a unique national profile.

This innovative Science Park will be close to Wonders Park, a well-liked tourist and local attraction that spans 19,500 sq.m. The project’s goal is to become a globally recognized center with state-of-the-art scientific facilities and architectural designs. Commissioner Shree Rajesh Narvekar asked authorities to compare NMMC’s offering to other science parks in the nation to make sure it stands out with cutting-edge features.

Prominent scientists from all across the country expressed interest in attending the All India Marathi Science Conference in Navi Mumbai and expressed their desire to share their knowledge on the Science Park project. Shree Rajesh Narvekar promised that efforts will be made to consult with these distinguished experts, using their knowledge to raise the project’s worldwide standards.

About 90% of the Science Park’s construction has been completed and the Commissioner is focusing on the interior design and adding cutting-edge science and technology displays, 3D images, and audio-visual presentations. The park will have a number of scientific and technology-related sections that promote ease of use and interaction. The Commissioner stressed how crucial it is to have clear labeling that categorizes exhibitions according to age groups.

Narvekar emphasized the importance of improving the nearby Wonders Park area and bringing it into line with the same excellent standards in addition to the Science Park. Under the direction of Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar, Navi Mumbai is dedicated to developing into a center for cutting-edge, internationally competitive initiatives, as demonstrated by its all-encompassing strategy.

Navi Mumbai Police Arrest African National With Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Cocaine In Ulwe

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.

The final day for filing nominations for the 2024 Vidhan Sabha General Election witnessed a surge of candidates in Thane district, with a total of 281 applications submitted across 18 assembly constituencies. This high turnout signals a competitive race for seats in the upcoming election.
