CM Bhagwant Mann is congratulated by PM Modi

After taking the Chief Minister’s oath on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Punjab’s, CM Bhagwant Mann. They would work together for Punjab, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Congratulations on Shri Bhagwant Mann Ji’s inauguration as Punjab Chief Minister. PM Modi tweeted, “Will work together for the progress of Punjab and the wellbeing of its people.”

PM Modi congratulated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on their historic victory in the state earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Mann was sworn in as the state’s Chief Minister at a large swearing-in event in Khatkar Kalan.

The new government, according to Mann, is “for all.” “I implore you (newly elected MLAs) not to become arrogant. Even those who did not vote for us must be respected. The AAP is battling for martyred values. After taking the oath, he added, “We are the government for all, and I thank you all, including AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal.”

At the ceremony, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, and other politicians wore yellow turbans.

“Punjab di Aan, Baan aur Shaan, Sardar,” said the Aam Aadmi Party’s Twitter account in a tweet praising Mann.

On Twitter, political figures sent their best wishes to Punjab’s freshly elected chief minister.

M K Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the leader of the DMK, greeted Mann and said his state and Punjab have a “strong tradition” of advocating for language and state rights.

“My best wishes to Thiru. Bhagwant Mann, who will be sworn in as Punjab’s new chief minister today. Tamil Nadu and Punjab both have a lengthy history of advocating for language and state rights in the Indian Union. Wishing the new government in Punjab the best of luck during their term in office, “Stalin sent out a tweet.

Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha, thanked Mann and expressed his hope that Punjab, under his leadership, will continue to prosper with the support of the people of the state.

“Congratulations on the introduction of Shri Bhagwant Mann Ji as Punjab’s chief minister.” I hope that the state advances further under your leadership, with the people’s support. Patnaik said on Twitter, “Best wishes.”

Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party, welcomed Punjab’s chief minister-designate ahead of his inauguration, wishing the state well.

“Congratulations and best wishes for the oath ceremony to Punjab’s newly elected chief minister, Shri Bhagwant Mann Ji!” In a Hindi tweet, Yadav expressed his hope that under his capable leadership, progress, brotherhood, and a fresh viewpoint will thrive in Punjab.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.
