Citizens of Sector 26 of Vashi complain about the Unbearable Stench of Air Pollution

Published

on

Residents in the Sector 26, Kopri area of Vashi continue to struggle with inappropriate living circumstances, which are made worse by an unpleasant stench that has penetrated the air, despite attempts to address air pollution problems in the region. There have been reports claiming that the pollution control officers are only doing cursory checks and are failing to deal with the ongoing problem.

After the high court intervened in the matter of dust and air pollution, the municipal corporation ordered the creation of a corrective plan, which led to a partial decrease in dust pollution.

Residents assert that there has been no decrease in the chemical air pollution, nevertheless. Residents have experienced extreme pain due to nighttime air pollution from chemical industries, which has increased significantly over the last three days. Residents within a ten-meter radius have experienced symptoms including nausea, wet eyes, and suffocation due to the overwhelming odour.

Locals claim that even though they have complained about the air pollution, the government’s inspections tend to minimize the problem’s seriousness. There are claims that officials may be trying to deceive locals by fabricating reports during their inspections that refute any unpleasant odour.

Residents are expressing their fears, drawing comparisons to the Bhopal gas catastrophe, and urging the authorities to act quickly before lives are in danger. A citizen named Professor Willeen Kumar has urged swift action to combat the continued air pollution, stressing the importance of finding a thorough and workable solution to the problems with the environment. Residents of Sector 26 are hoping that the authorities would act quickly to address the air pollution problem and protect the community’s safety, as the situation there is still dire.
