Published

on

Due to waterlogging on the tracks, the Mumbai Suburban Railway’s Harbour Line has seen severe interruptions as a result of overnight torrential rainfall. Trains were canceled or rerouted, and services were suspended, causing major disruptions for commuters.

Speaking to the media, the general manager of Central Railway gave an update on the situation, saying, “It has been raining heavily since night.” In just six hours, more over 300 mm of rain had poured. While keeping an eye on things, we’re working to keep the trains operating. There is waterlogging in Kurla Bhandup as a result of the recent rains, especially on the main line. Additionally, the Harbour Line is blocked from Wadala to Mankhurd due to extensive waterlogging around Chunabhatti. Something is wrong with these services. Certain trains have been canceled, and others have been rerouted. I implore everyone to stay inside their houses unless absolutely essential.

Speaking about the issue, Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) stated, “The services on Harbour Line were operating regularly till 9:30 a.m. After 9:30 a.m., a lot of water had accumulated on the track as a result of the Mithi River near Chunabhatti Station of Harbour Line and the heavy rains. Chunabhatti Station’s local services were affected as a result. The services are now operating regularly between Wadala Road and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. Additionally, there are services operating from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Western, Goregaon.

According to officials, restoration work is in progress and every attempt is being made to get the tracks cleared as quickly as possible. Nila went on, “In addition, the service from Mankhurd to Panvel is operating without hiccups; however, there is no service running in the middle from Wadala Road to Mankhurd. We’ll work to start up services again from there as soon as the water subsides.

Officials advise the people to stay inside unless traveling is absolutely necessary and are constantly keeping an eye on the situation.
