The eagerly anticipated Vashi RTO office for residents of Navi Mumbai is now anticipated to open sometime in the following month in Nerul. As soon as the building’s occupancy certificate is approved, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is expected to attend the inauguration, according to BJP sources. Residents of Navi Mumbai have been attending a packed, cramped, and overcrowded deputy regional transport office in Vashi for more than 19 years for a variety of tasks relating to vehicles and their licences. Prior to its opening in 2004, the Vashi Dy RTO office, which is part of Thane Regional Transport Office, required Navi Mumbai residents to travel to Thane RTO for any work.

Only the occupancy certificate is still pending six years after the property at Nerul was allocated and four years after building began on the Dy RTO office. The Dy RTO office is now operated out of a building at the APMC market on a leasing basis, with a monthly charge of 3.65 lakh rupees. There isn’t enough room outside the building for parking cars because it houses a number of other offices, including the unit I criminal branch office of Navi Mumbai. The personnel at the Dy RTO office frequently has to run two counters while seated next to one other due to the existing building’s lack of space. The visitors sometimes become perplexed by the counters and are unable to choose an appropriate area to sit down. “The team has fought for years to operate in the constrained space and provide the best possible service to the public. The personnel would be able to provide better service in the new building, according to Dy RTO Hemangini Patil.

Despite having a budget of 8.84 crore, the Nerul building in sector 19 with a 1232.26 sq m size is anticipated to have higher real costs. The distance between the Dy RTO building and the automobile testing track is around 1.2 kilometres, and it is close to the Uran Phata and LP bus terminals.
