A Navi Mumbai Builder Was Killed by his Wife and Driver

The Mumbai Police have unravelled the riddle surrounding the murder of a builder in Seawoods, Navi Mumbai. January 14 saw the discovery of 39-year-old Manoj Kumar Ram Narayan Singh dead at his Seawoods workplace. Before the authorities solved the case, the motivation and identity of the murderer were unknown.

The builder’s wife, Poonam Singh, 34, has been taken into custody by the Mumbai Police on charges of killing her husband. The police claim that Poonam committed the murder with the help of her driver Raju, also identified as Shamshul Abuhurera Khan, who has also been taken into custody. According to the authorities, Poonam and her driver, who is 22 years old, are in a relationship. When Raju was apprehended by the police earlier for the murder, they later discovered that the builder’s wife had also been involved.

At a news conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I), Vivek Pansare, stated that the accused had been taken into police custody within twenty-four hours after the incident.  The accused struck the builder on the head and face with iron rods in order to murder him. In an attempt to destroy evidence, his wife and driver also attempted to harm the office’s closed-circuit television system (CCTV).

The suspects were in police custody within 24 hours after the incident, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I), Vivek Pansare, at a news conference. The accused struck the builder in the face and head with iron rods, killing him. To destroy evidence, his driver and wife also attempted to break into the office’s closed-circuit television (CCTV).

In addition to his wife’s extramarital affair, the builder’s financial losses and legal troubles are believed to have been the driving forces for his murder. According to sources, the murder suspects have been remanded to police custody until January 18.

Navi Mumbai Police Arrest African National With Rs 1 Crore Worth Of Cocaine In Ulwe

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Navi Mumbai Police arrested Jeorge Ocante DaSilva, a 35-year-old native of Guinea, on Monday for possessing 410 grams of cocaine, allegedly intended for illegal sale. Acting on a tip-off, API Alka Patil of the AHTU led a raid at RM Heights Building in Ulwe, where DaSilva was found in possession of the narcotics.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 28, officers discovered 410 grams of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs 1,02,50,000, hidden in DaSilva’s bedroom. Authorities also seized a mobile phone, a black Tabata weighing scale, scissors, plastic packaging bags, and a sky bag, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 1,02,55,610.

An FIR was filed at Panvel City Police Station under Sections 8(a) and 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Dasilva was presented in court and remanded to police custody until October 31, 2024. Investigations are ongoing, with the Crime Branch seeking potential accomplices and sources of the narcotics. Notably, Dasilva has a prior NDPS case registered at Nahar Police Station in Mumbai.

The final day for filing nominations for the 2024 Vidhan Sabha General Election witnessed a surge of candidates in Thane district, with a total of 281 applications submitted across 18 assembly constituencies. This high turnout signals a competitive race for seats in the upcoming election.
