NCP leader Nawab Malik got arrested by the ED

Nawab Malik, a Maharashtra minister, and NCP leader was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday. Malik was summoned by the ED in connection with a PMLA case involving elements tied to Dawood Ibrahim and the mafia.

Malik was formally arrested by the ED after a lengthy interview that lasted many hours. According to accounts, he was escorted to the ED office for a medical evaluation.

The story was confirmed by Nawab Malik’s office, which stated that ED agents had visited Malik’s home and taken him away. “The ED arrived at Nawab Malik’s house this morning. They rode in Saheb’s car to the emergency room.

Saheb’s son, the advocate Amir Malik, has joined him,” the message added. Since 8 a.m., the minister has been questioned.

This follows operations by the Enforcement Directorate in South Mumbai in connection with a money laundering case involving underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his associates. The ED raided nearly nine locations in Mumbai and one in Thane, including the homes of Dawood Ibrahim’s late sister Haseena Parkar and brother Iqbal Kaskar. Iqbal Kaskar, who is imprisoned in Thane on extortion charges, was also apprehended by the agency and brought before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court.

As per sources, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar slammed the act, saying it was done on purpose to target persons who have spoken out against the misuse of government services. “If a Muslim activist opposes them, it is customary for them to associate his name with Dawood. They sought to link my name to Dawood Ibrahim when I was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. “This is an attempt to persecute those who speak out against the misuse of government agencies,” Pawar was quoted as saying.

Sanjay Raut, a Shivsena leader, also attacked the BJP-led administration, alleging that the ED was being abused. “How the ED removed Nawab Malik from his residence is a challenge to the Maharashtra government. By coming to our state, a minister gets taken away by central agencies. You, too, will be investigated after 2024. Remember this,” he added.

Ibrahim was plotting terror strikes on India with explosives and lethal weapons, according to the National Investigation Agency, which reported this on February 19. He’d organized a special force to instigate violence throughout the country.

He has also been moving monies through Hawala methods to provide financial assistance to all those involved in a planned attack, according to the premier agency. He is involved in anti-national actions and is attempting to create a schism amongst religious organizations, according to the agency.

So according to sources, Nawab Malik’s name surfaced in the investigation after intelligence inputs urged the agency to investigate a hawala transaction while investigating a money laundering case involving Ibrahim, Iqbal Mirchi, Chhota Shakeel, Parkar, and Javed Chikna. The agency discovered multiple hawala transactions involving money obtained illegally through extortion, drug trafficking, the selling of real estate in Mumbai’s Nagpada and Bhendi Bazaar areas, and other illicit operations.

The NIA has named Ibrahim and numerous of his accomplices, as well as their roles in terror activities against India, including hawala transactions. Dawood Ibrahim and his associates have previously been charged under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

Access to quality healthcare just got a major boost for local families. Meta Multispeciality Hospital officially opened its doors in Ghansoli Sector 4, promising state-of-the-art medical technology alongside a deeply human approach to community care.

The facility was inaugurated by Forest Minister and Palghar Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, who toured the premises to inspect its emergency wards, OPD facilities, and advanced diagnostic machinery. Speaking to attendees, Naik praised the hospital’s leadership for prioritizing affordable, high-quality treatment for middle-class households.

What sets the hospital apart, however, is its landmark social welfare initiative announced during the opening by community leader Sagar Chougule and hospital administrator Dr. Swarna Shelke:

  • Free Maternity Care for Girl Child Deliveries: To celebrate and encourage the birth of female children, the hospital will waive all delivery charges for mothers giving birth to baby girls.
