A delegation led by Vijay Nahata pushes for immediate cancellation of CIDCO transfer charges.

The Charges

At the meeting on Friday at Shinde’s residence, Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Vijay Nahata led a team that asked for the immediate cancellation of CIDCO’s transfer costs. In a formal declaration, the delegation urged the government to address this persistent problem that impacts Navi Mumbai apartment owners.

Nahata stressed throughout the discussion how oppressive and unlawful the fees that CIDCO collects with each apartment transfer are. He emphasised the emotional and financial strain this puts on apartment owners and cited a relevant decision from the Supreme Court.

With an explanation that these transfer fees cause the homeowners additional stress and needless expenses, Nahata asked for quick assistance for the impacted residents.

Chief Minister Shinde responded quickly, phoning MLA Sanjay Shirsat, the recently appointed President of CIDCO, and giving clear directives to investigate and settle the matter in the Navi Mumbai community’s best interests. A request for the abolition of transfer fees was also ordered by Shinde in response to Nahata’s statement.

BJP office bearer Satish Nikam, Sahakar Bharati President Pramod Joshi, and Housing Federation President Subhash Mhatre were among the delegation members. Chief Minister Shinde and CIDCO President Shirsat were thanked by the delegation for their prompt and helpful responses.
