The Uran Municipal Council Will Inaugurate Its New Administrative Building Soon
Soon the New Administrative building is to be inaugurated by Uran Municipal council.
The Inauguration
The Uran Municipal Council’s (UMC) newest administrative building is scheduled to open in the near future, if all proceeds as planned. Ninety percent of the work is finished, and the last touches to the painting have begun, according to an official who spoke on the record. Next month is probably when the building will be officially opened.
In addition to the administration building, a market and community hall will also open in the near future. Legislative sessions and code of conduct observance caused some delays in these activities, which MLA Mahesh Baldi was leading. Senior state ministers from Maharashtra will grace the opening, which is anticipated to happen shortly.
The modern administration building, which has advanced quickly and is estimated to have cost Rs. 6.50 crores, is currently concentrating on finishing furnishings and little details, which will cost an extra Rs. 3.50 lakhs.
The outdated framework that the Uran Municipal Council has been using for the last eight years has not been able to keep up with the increasing demands of its operations, particularly during the monsoon season. The new administration facility, whose yearly budget exceeds Rs. 50 crores, is intended to offer improved municipal services in a contemporary, roomy setting.
The 25,000 square foot, two-story structure will have an auditorium on the second level, administrative offices on the first floor, and parking for 20 cars on the ground floor. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the Parishad would get additional revenue from the commercial areas housed within the building. Simultaneously approaching completion are the Rs. 4.11 crore market building project and the Rs. 5.25 crore Samaj Mandir construction project. These facilities are essential to serving Uran’s expanding business and urbanization operations.
“The completion of these historic projects is a critical turning point for Uran Nagar Parishad. “We hope the inauguration will mark the beginning of a new chapter in improved public services and administrative effectiveness,” said Sameer Jadhav, CEO of Uran Municipal Council.

Residents Raise Alarm Over Cigarette Sales to Students
Seawoods residents seek strict action against tobacco sales near educational institutions and public spaces.
The Cigarette Sales
Residents of Sector 25, Seawoods, Nerul, have raised concerns over students allegedly smoking in public places and the suspected sale of cigarettes to minors.
Following repeated complaints, the ward officer and local police conducted a raid at a paan shop on the ground floor of Ambika Heights on the night of September 11. Officials reportedly found cigarette cartons at the shop, but no other illegal intoxicating substances.
Residents said students, reportedly aged between 17 and 22, are frequently seen smoking near Seawoods railway station, the bridge and other public areas. They suspect that a local paan shop may be supplying cigarettes to college students. Prakash Yawalkar, president of the Seawoods Citizens Welfare Association, said students were openly smoking outside the shop, raising concerns among residents and parents.
The association has submitted complaints to the local police, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, mayor, local representatives and the Drug Department. It has urged authorities to strictly enforce the law prohibiting tobacco sales to minors and increase monitoring around schools, colleges and other student gathering points.
Residents said stronger action is needed to prevent tobacco use among young people and ensure that public spaces remain safe and healthy.
